Who is going to score the GOALS to Keep us UP
It looks like the club have no intention in bringing in a striker and will leave the responsibility of scoring goals to the vast array of prolific strikers already in the team. So let's have a look at the options:

Haller
6 goals in 22 games (20 starts - Premier League only)

Massively out of form after a positive start.
We hoped that Moyes might be able to turn his form around after he had a positive impact on Arnautovic last term, but so far it's not looking good.
Obviously he has some ability but doesn't seem to be working for the team.
Bit of a Catch 22 - needs some confidence to start scoring again, needs to start scoring again to gain some confidence.

Ajeti
0 goals in 8 (0)

Relatively early days and hasn't started a Prem game yet. Not really made any impact in any of the games he's come on so far and showed nothing to suggest that he could help us out of this mess.

Antonio
1 goal in 10 (5)

He's not a striker, but he's still the best striker we've got and he's a workhorse. He's valuable to us in any position going forward (just not RB). Concern is that the nature of his game means he throws himself around and picks up knocks so he's too often in the treatment room. Still, we need him fit as we look clueless without him. Even if he doesn't score, he causes problems and sets and example with his workrate.

Other considerations:

Yarmalenko
3 goals in 15 (9)

Currently injured, not sure when he's back and he's also not really a striker. He's a bit too slow for me, ponders on the ball a bit too long. He's ok when the team is playing well, but tries to play fancy flicks and tricks even when we're struggling the simple things aren't working. Unlikely he is the answer even when he returns from injury.

Jordan Hugill
9 goals in 18 (27 starts - Championship)

Ironically the highest goal scorer we have albeit in the league below. I don't think we have the option anyway, but absolutely no chance he is going to be recalled. He's probably at the right level to be fair. Worth keeping for next season perhaps!

Development Squad:

Moyes seemed to have no interest in youth in his previous tenure and that looks to continue.
Holland & Coventry off on loan, Grady and Cullen not recalled. Perhaps they were never going to feature but it's telling to me that he does not even want to try some of these players when we woefully short in these areas. (I know Coventry and Cullen are midfielders but this is another area we are lacking in quality/depth)

Scully scored 15 in 18 for the development squad. It's a big step and I've not seen him play but I very much doubt we will. Mind you, Is he even a striker or more of an attacking midfielder?

Xande Silva has just returned from injury I think? He's been out for about 10 months and is 23 in March. Supposed to be a decent player there but has the injury put his development back?

In summary, I think we're probably fucked if we don't (as expected) bring another striker in.

Sold, I have a feeling you are taking the piss.
But I agree, Arthur did well trying to creat something for us against Liverpool.
Many a true word said in jest, so someone said.

The next few months are going to be grim but if we somehow manage to stay up then in the summer there needs to be a priority on getting some pace and youth into the team.

Speed on it's own isn't the solution (see Arthur, Fredericks) but there must be players out there who are quick and competent at the basic things like passing and positional sense - even if they are not world class.

Or am I just pissing into the wind?

Just had a glance at our fixture list.
If we don't beat Brighton on Saturday I predict we are FuCkEd,chaps.
The goals have dried up and we are pretty shit at the back. I doubt Soucek will solve our midfield problems.

Coca Cola League football here we come.

it's all about intent, and the only priority for the manager seems to be to grind out a draw first, and we possibly might nick a goal. attacking teams or trying to win games seems a secondary priority

We haven't scored a goal from open play since Felipe got injured. Make od that what you want.

Re: Who is going to score the GOALS to Keep us UP
It is a good question. Would be nice if we can get someone in, but it looks unlikely.

Perhaps the question should be who is going to get the ball forward to provide opportunities for our forward? Long balls are not the answer, Anderson and Lanzini are just useless at the moment. Snodgrass does well, I think Fornals can do better. Perhaps this new guy?

We need to get the ball to Haller in scoring positions and the goal swill come.

I think one of the problems with Haller is he literally has zero competition for his place. However he plays (or doesn’t play) he’s a cert for the starting line up every game.

I’ve seen enough of him to know he’s got the ability but it seems getting it out of him is a problem at the moment.

I can only think he needs the motivation of another player up his arse a bit
