Premier League clubs vote to return to longer summer transfer window

Premier League clubs will have until 5pm on September 1 to conclude their summer business instead of the transfer window closing before the start of the season

Premier League clubs have voted to return to a longer summer transfer window - meaning it will remain open until September 1.

The summer window closed before the start of the 2019-20 season, but will now go back to how it was prior to this season.

Clubs have also voted for the window to close at 5pm, rather than 11pm.

A Premier League statement said: "At a Shareholders’ Meeting today, Premier League clubs voted to adopt a change to the Summer Transfer Window closing date for season 2020/21.

"This will move the closing date back to the traditional point at the end of August/early September.

Was reading that they didn’t make an offer for Bowen til the Thursday night before the 11pm Friday night deadline.
And that he signed at 10.50pm Friday
Probably expecting the transfer would be processed after midnight so wouldn’t have to pay him for Jan 31st

Do you think the reason we always buy late is because the board thinks
1. They get a better Deal

2.They think it's good business to buy at the end of the window because they save 3 weeks wages

Whatever the reason our signing policy is atrocious.

I also see BFS has come out and said Sullivan would buy him presents which would be players he had not asked for

The best thing for us would be if the windows closed on July 2nd and January 2nd - that way our owners can’t fuck everything up by leaving it to deadline day

Right call for me, the window closing sometime in mid-August just didn't seem right. I think the January window should be scrapped though.

Closing it before the season starts is the right time.
Not sure how much more they did to convince the other leagues to do the same.
Should have said that they are sticking to the dates of last season and won’t sanction any transfers from Premier league clubs to foreign clubs after that date.
