Drink drive alcohol limit
My understanding is that one - two pints in a couple of hours is about the legal limit.

I’ve watched programmes where people have been nicked for drink driving who are absolutely wankered and when they breathalise them they are only twice over the limit. Which means they’ve had about four pints. It doesn’t make sense

Can anyone educate me on this

As long as it’s only themselves that they kill then it’s alright.

The problem comes if they happen to be giving your daughter a lift at the time.

Toe Rag… talking about spiralling insurance costs… my daughter passed at 17 (last year) as did a load of her mates… I think she is the only one not had a prang… 2 of her mates (one boy and one girl) have between then written off three cars and had 7 accidents… this includes crashing into each other whilst racing and the best of all him taking her for a ride down the A127 in his sporty supped up ST Fiesta … losing control in Westcliff and landing in the garden and garage of a house… the irony of the house he hit is I used to live there… small world eh… anyway I can see why now youngsters insurances are the prices they are… NUTTERS

Let’s be honest here, drink driving is an absolute wanker’s trick.

If in doubt, don’t.

Yes, I’ve done it and am not proud of it. Wasn’t caught though.

And have you seen the cost of insurance with a conviction?

FMOB!

I got stupidly done in 1988 after a argument with the missus down the seafront... reckon I had a good 10 pints of Holsten... got in the car and went looking for her... wasn't sure now but think I was looking to run her over... anyway random check by old bill down the sea front... blew into the bag and came up teh equiv' of 2 pints... just over the limit... was offered a blood test (which is more accurate) at the station but declined... oh 2 year ban and £500 fine if you are wondering... I know another MATE who literally had to be propped up on his bonnet and his test stayed green... copper told him to lock his car up and walk home.... one lucky fucker.

Half this in Scotland, should you ever be driving there.

There's no limit. People often drink Canada dry.

Re: Drink drive alcohol limit
Depends on the person, as if you drink on a regular basis you'll build up more of a tolerance.

A fellow hammer who is on the Hornchurch coaches once drove me home from the pub and was pulled by the old bill outside my house.

We both knew he'd had 5 pints, but we were out every night back then and he passed the breathalyser.

Another mate who was a marine and you'd think could drink, would literally be pissed after 1 pint.

The average body, and I would say there are some posters on here with very average bodies , clears one unit pet hour. Half a pint or 1 short being 1 unit. We are teached this stuf at railway skool

'It's roughly the same as the amount you are allowed to bring through customs I think?'

Brilliant! Until Dec 31st we can drink a whole transit full of booze as long as it's for 'personal use'.

Keep to single figures and suck a 2p coin whilst driving to fool the breath test

Uncle Gank sorts your problems

Re: Drink drive alcohol limit
I am allowed 7 units of alcohol in any 24 hour period before starting work and none at all in the 8 hours before starting.

Theoretically I could be stopped by plod and breathalysed in my car on the way to work and pass that and then be subject to a random drugs and alcohol test a few minutes later and fail and lose my job.

I am an expert at making the most of the opportunities that I do get. 🍺

Re: Drink drive alcohol limit
.

Volume in ml × ABV % ÷ 1000 = no. of units

eg

1 pint of 4.5 % beer = 568ml × 4.5 = 2566

Divide that by a 1000 = 2.566 units.

Takes the average punter one hour to shift one unit of alcohol from their body.

Re: Drink drive alcohol limit
Just don't drink at all before driving to be safe but a couple of pints with a meal should be ok-ish. Still dulls the reflexes.
I used to skate the line but now drink nothing before driving and then get plastered afterwards when in the mood.
