Toppings
|
essential toppings for a pizza are cheese, tomatoes and oregano. my own extra essentials are garlic, onion, chives, silverbeet, and celeriac. my crowning additions are artichoke, jalapeno chillies, mushrooms, olives, capsicums, haloumi cheese, pine kernels, tarragon and freshly ground black pepper. this imbibed with the available beverage.
but the real top treat is a recording of WEST HAM BEATING newcastle in my favourite win.

Exactly, I have it as a treat now and again - you can't beat a beer, pizza and football match with your pals...

I love it as this thread will attest but is a rare treat, made by myself.
Those white carbs are not good as regular thing for me and most people.

I remember a few years ago I got talking to an Italian nutritionist who worked at Imperial College London and she told me from a nutritional point of view pizza isn't very good at all. It gives you a very brief spurt of energy due to the carbohydrate but that's about it.
She advised me to get a chicken burger from Gourmet Burger Kitchen instead!
We were in Russell Square and it was good advice...I enjoyed that burger.

Imagine clicking on a thread about pizza toppings expecting anything different.

Add your chip(?) (Haven't worked a bingo since I was teenager)
I added "tomatoes on toast" said by the old (maybe xenophobic???? - the character not the opinion) killer in an older British crime drama I saw years ago at home. Still bugging me what show it was, since it was brought back to my head.
Semi-recognizable older, skinny, crazy looking actor, who I swear I have seen in other similar roles.

"peasant food" has already been taken in dismissive pizza bingo, sadly
early bird and all that.

Happily, most women don't approach the issue with a knife.

I thought this would be a profile of Denzil Toppings, predominately left footed with pace to burn, currently plying his trade at FC Kobenhaven.
Imagine my disappointment in finding out it's about frozen shelf peasant food.

Quite true come to think of it.
I would guess women would not have the same initial visceral response. Never asked.

That kind of empathy is not really a cook's best quality.

Not the same time but preparing them yourself is the bad part of it. Have to cut through a few membranes etc.
Deep fried them then.

I had them once, not on a pizza but from a charcoal grill in Algeria. They were described as les rognons blancs. I took this literally and put it down to experience.

If we could take that more literally...
Anyone ever had prairie/Rocky Mountain oysters as a topping on pizza?
I have once. Not the worst.
