The Wuhan Lab
A quick google will get you on the English language webpage of the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Click on ‘ Research’ and what comes up is Epidimiology of Infectious Diseases...specifically viruses from bats or birds , and goes on to say that the lab was conducting testing on SARS-Cov and influenza viruses. I found it in 30 seconds on google tonight , it’s there for anyone to see.
The main lab in China and located in Wuhan the epicentre of this outbreak. Some coincidence eh ? I see the Guardian were calling US politicians who were pointing the finger at this lab ‘right wing conspiracy theorists ‘... but of all the places in all the world that this had to start it doesn’t look good on the Chinese does it ? The Yanks will definitely know where it came from .. possibly a bio weapon released by a nutter or accidentally into that city and the Chinese rushed to cover it up putting a huge city into total lockdown . When the numbers in the States jump like they’re doing in Italy right now just watch Trump start ratcheting up the blame game and hatred against the Chinese Govt. ... already right wingers over there are urging him to ‘punish’ the Chinese for this virus. What’s unfolding is bad enough already but if by the summer tens or hundreds of thousands of Americans are dead from this virus while the Chinese seem to have put it behind them and get their economy rolling Trump is bound to turn up the volume. And might start threatening all sorts of retaliation against the Chinese ...it’s election year and he will be under massive pressure . Scary times we are living through.

Injuring/making the enemy sick ties up more resources as the infrastructure dedicated to healing them cannot be put to use in warfare.

Blow a soldier to bits with a landmine and that's it. Blow his foot off and he needs recovering from the minefield by comrades/stretcher-bearers and attendance by doctors, nurses and ancillary staff. Warfare 101.

If COVID-19 was weaponised, or studied and manufactured as a weapon I'm sure it would have had more catastrophic symptoms than this one. Would also expect it would target the young rather than the old, not many over the age of 70 fighting in our armies.

Probably was Cooper originally. But, yes, I remember that FUCKING MILLENNIAL Tim Vine (aged 53) telling it and just C&Pd. Apologies to Fezzers everywhere.

Scientists are already monitoring several other Coronavirus variants which they believe will make the leap across to humans at some point. Let's hope they are less lethal than this fucker.

Re: The Wuhan Lab
Isn't it more likely that the lab in Wuhan, which is hardly a secret facility, was studying Covid19 among local bats - because it had been found among local bats and R&D was a little easier locally?

Since SARS, they have known about several other Coronavirus variations within the animal population - for some time.

Don't be surprised to see any vaccine develop from Wuhan and/or China for the same reason - they have more data than anybody on this fucking thing. My bigger concern right now is that, according to some science experts and politicos, the Chinese are only sharing selective bits of their Covid19 data.

This is a global pandemic and there should be no hoarding of the science that will get us through it. International pressure needs to be brough to bear on China - and other states - to share ALL of their data. People are dying from London to the south pacific islands because of this now - yet some states are playing 20th centrury global politics with it.

Trump and his fuckyardery is not helping.

Re: The Wuhan Lab
Seems 50/50 as to whose joke that one actually is but apparently 1 in 5 Tommy Cooper jokes you'll find on the internet are actually Tim Vine's. TC's a plagiarist beyond the grave.

Obviously knew that they had a population in the billions but when you find out there are about a dozen cities with a population bigger than London (Shanghai is something like 25 million; more than a lot of European countries) it puts it into perspective a bit.

Indeed I did, for which I subsequently apologised as I don't actually know the state of the animals when they left the lab. Others on here may have better information.

Re: The Wuhan Lab
Mashed, you have JUST realised there's a lot of people in China??

Courtesy of Tm Vine: "Apparently, one in five people in the world are Chinese. And there are five people in my family, so it must be one of them. It's either my mum or my dad. Or my older brother, Colin. Or my younger brother, Ho-Chan-Chu.

"But I think it's Colin."

Re: The Wuhan Lab
I heard from a reasonably reliable source who still works in China. That the lab were told to stop the experiments and get rid off the animals and they sold them to to wet market traders.

Re: The Wuhan Lab
You did use the word carcasses.
They are generally not very alive unless the lab was creating the undead but that is 28 days later territory.

Then I apologise for assuming that all the animals disposed of by the lab were dead when they had finished with them.

Re: The Wuhan Lab
Only found out the other day that Wuhan has a bigger population than London. 11 million as opposed to 9 million.

And there are 8 cities which are larger.

And the metro area has about 20 million people.

Really is an insanely populated country.

The means of transmission for this one is exhaled or coughed droplets from LIVE animals and humans not the bodily fluids of the dead like Ebola.

These unhygienic practices would have been going on for decades, centuries.

Something was introduced into those practices that was able to put itself about with consummate ease (in the way it was originally designed to, I suspect).

The carcass dealer simply for the lab looking for a bit of extra CNY money, or even someone new at the job but not knowledgeable about what they were dealing with seem most probable to me.

Then - as at Hillsborough - those in authority started covering their arses rather than actually addressing the root causes.
