Beam-back games at Upton Park
Did anyone ever go to these ?

I recall one against Leeds in the early 90s picture quality was shit.
I think Lee Chapman scored at both ends and we lost 3.2.
Was a few others but can’t remember who they were against.

Went to the Chelsea away beam back plus a couple of others. Good idea but poorly executed so ended up being pretty shit.

To this day my daughter is traumatised by the 7-1 defeat to Man U and breaks out in a panic at the sight of a giant screen!

Me and the Uncle went to Sheffield United away when we lost 3-0 in 2007, we assumed we was relegated after that. Thankfully Tevez and Zamora kept us up in the remaining games.

I went to a few. The 7-1 loss at Mancs, 2-3 (Di Canio) win at Chelsea and the defeat to Millwall when Harewood got sent off and all the screens got smashed.

Was very strange watching on the big screens.

There were 8 away fans at the Boogers’ game. We each got our tickets of a different player.

The strangest thing on the night was the sound of the enormous silence that drowned out our cheering when we equalised.

Obviously I missed that beam-back, but I went to most of the other beam-backs. The Bolton one was my last

Went to most of these. Saw us nick a rare draw playing on plastic against Luton in the cup (Parris scored I think).

The Okocha game was fkin depressing.

Went one of the Leeds ones (got done 3-0 or 4-0?). Remember it was freezing up in the west stand tryin to watch about 100 x 22inch tellys taped together.
The pikeys 1-4. (Got turned back at Lon Br without tickets, after all meeting up at 9am at the Resolute, Poplar). Nightmare day!

My old man and uncle went to the Bolton game which more or less confined us to relegation.

I was a student so was working but I remember picking him up from our nearest station on the way home, he got in the car and swore before remianing silent the rest of the way home.

Re: Beam-back games at Upton Park
I went to three.

Charlton away- Lost 4-2

Chelsea away- Won 3-2- The Di Canio show.

Millwall away- Horrible experience, we got battered 4-1 and I also had the hangover from hell, I should have styaed in bed but didn't want to let my mate down.

Remember going to a couple of these, Millwall I think was one of them.

Bars were open.

Poxy little TVs under the stand.

Covered in beer.

Pretty shit really.

Remember the Leeds and Luton ones. Unfortunately I spent all my paper round money at the Luton game which meant I didn't have enough money to go to the replay :(

Was the Bolton game shown the year we went down?

Re: Beam-back games at Upton Park
Manchester City away 94/95 season and Man United away the following season where no away fans were allowed (boogers game).

I actually managed to get a ticket for that one but remember it was beam back.

Re: Beam-back games at Upton Park
Chelsea away, Di Canio with a 30yarder was one of the last beam backs I went to I think. I bunked in for free via a disabled entrance pretending to be pushing a quite capable (and pissed off) bloke in a wheel chair. Was clocked by security but trotted into the crowd at the nearest bar delighted to get my first pint for free. Ahh to be young & pissed at the Boleyn with di Canio on the pitch...

Kidderminster 1-0 with Chapman scoring a header i think?

Millwall 1-4. Fkin depressing.

The club also had a promotion. Something like 25 quid and you watched the U21's vs Bolton at Upton Park then a 3 course meal in one of the Lounges then they showed us away at Leicester on a small TV. 0-0. rubbish game.

Good thing was me and my mate hid in the ground after everyone left and went on the pitch and had a little run around. We could have stayed all night but eventually we had to find the caretaker to let us out.

Re: Beam-back games at Upton Park
I remember watching the Youth team beat Man U 5-0 in the FA Youth Cup and they then beamed back the 1st team game who were at Old Trafford.

I remember my mate saying, "imagine if this was a 2nd leg , I still wouldn't be confident of going through", he would have been right, we lost 7-1 after being 1 nil up after Wanchope scored.

Came up and stayed in the hotel for my 50th. 10th November 2007. Watched the Derby away game on beam back where we won 5-0. Talk about perfect score.

Re: Beam-back games at Upton Park
They were typical west ham in the fact that they were bloody awful. Crap quality or too sunny to see the screens.

Actually went to newcastle for the 3-0 and had pulled a bird in Edinburgh who's female friend owned a boozer up there, so a cracking win followed by a great piss up and lock in until a train home in the morning.

Shame the bird I'd pulled turned out to be a heroin addict, so no nuts in for me as she was fucked - ha ha!!!
