Hammers hit by player’s refusal to sign new deal

Promising Hammers right back Jeremy Ngakia has refused to sign a new deal with the club and will walk away from the London Stadium on June 30.

Everybody at the club feels badly let down by the 19 year old’s decision under the guidance of his agent David Dixon of Player Works after months of negotiations but the player and his representatives didn’t give their answer until last night (Thurs).

However, the decision does clear the way for another brilliant prospect Ben Johnson to challenge fit again Ryan Fredericks when the season resumes although the youngster has been hit by injuries on a regular basis.

The Hammers had made various offers to Ngakia as they had done Johnson and Grady Diangana before him but eventually the youngster decided to reject them through Dixon.

It will come as no surprise now of course if the player joins a new club in the near future.

It means of course that he will not be around to complete the renewal of a season which is scheduled to kick off again on June 12th or 19th which seems a harsh manner in which to conduct the business.

According to German website SPORT1 West Ham teenager, Benicio Baker-Boaitey is being tracked by the European elite

Barcelona and Bayern Munich are claimed to have him on their radar. While Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United are also said to be closely following his progress. Earlier this year an article in the Daily Mail claimed PSG and RB Leipzig were also tracking the wonder kid.

The 16-year-old, who operates as a winger or behind the striker, has impressed scouts from a number of European and Premier League during games this season.

West Ham signed Baker-Boaitey from Queens Park Rangers and he is now an England U16 international.

Baker-Boaitey made his debut for the club’s Under-18 team a little over a week after turning 15 last season and staff at Chadwell Heath have high hopes for the youngster.

A tricky wide man, he is able to play off either foot and has shone when scoring goals after cutting in from either flank.

Kevin Phillips fancies West Ham United to sign Liverpool’s Nathaniel Clyne

In an interview with Football Insider, Kevin Phillips has fancied West Ham United to land the signature of Nathaniel Clyne on a free transfer, once his contract with Liverpool expires during the summer.

The right-back has been with the Reds since the summer of 2015 but he has barely featured for the first-team in recent years due to long-term injury setbacks and the emergence of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 29-year-old has played no part for the Reds this term after rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament in pre-season but he could make his injury comeback when the campaign resumes after the coronavirus shutdown.

His current deal could be extended for a couple of months beyond June 2020 due to the delayed end to the season but it appears likely that he could become a free-agent thereafter.

The Hammers are one of the clubs in the running to sign the former Southampton man and Phillips believes the east London outfit could provide Clyne with the perfect platform to revive his career.

“You wonder what happened to Clyne. Over the years he has been a really good player but just disappeared really. He has got a lot of experience and we know he is a quality player,” He told.

“He would want to try and get back playing and get back to the form that he showed when he was at Southampton and first arrived at Liverpool. West Ham could be a good place to do that. I can see that happening.”

Veteran star Pablo Zabaleta is likely to leave the Hammers when his contract concludes at the end of the season and that leaves Ryan Fredericks and Jeremy Ngakia as the potential options for the right-back position.

In the injury absence of Fredericks, academy graduate Ngakia got a regular run of games from the starting XI before the coronavirus shutdown and he could be one to watch out for in the future.

Still, David Moyes will want an experienced option with Premier League experience to compete with Fredericks next term and Clyne has proven his quality from his time at Southampton and his initial years at Liverpool.
