Will we stand a better chance of PL survival playing in an empty London Stadium?
Our current home record of W4, D3, L7 is the our worst since the relegation season of 88/89 and worse than our relegation seasons of 10/11 and 02/03.

Fortunately our away record this season has just about kept us in the fight.

Every team has the opportunity to reset and go again, in our case, much needed.

The London Stadium can generate a fantastic level of noise and atmosphere when things are going well but it turns sour so easily such is the disillusionment of so many Hammers.

I just wonder whether our players might respond better to not feeling the pressure generated by disgruntled home fans. It will be interesting to see in what looks 3 very challenging fixtures Vs Wolves and Chelsea at home and Spurs away. Will the playing field be levelled with no fans, home or away?

Yes, the answer is no.

I'm delighted that particular excuse has been taken away from them. This club is toxic and it shows on the pitch time an time again. No passion at all, just a bunch of gutless, prideless, mercenaries.

I’ve been to the majority of home games since we moved, and still the two standout games for atmosphere for me were the Chelsea cup, and Spurs league games which were both night games, so no surprise either.

Our away support will be a massive loss. The players will miss that.

Lawro spot on, as per.

Seems even GTHC Lawro agrees

There is often a negative vibe at London Stadium so it is possible that an absence of fans will not hurt West Ham's chances as much as it might do to other sides.

Clearly Wolves have had a much better season but the Hammers are not a bad team on their day, and are better than their position in the table suggests, so I am backing them to spring a bit of a surprise.

Lawro's prediction: 1-0

I’m interested in the referees performance at the grounds of ‘big teams’ especially when we go to Old Trafford where we seem to have been regularly done up like a kipper by biased or cowardly refs in recent seasons.
Not sure whether they will be less accommodating to those teams without crowds intimidating them or whether the lack of crowds will allow them to indulge their bias and show that it’s more about reffing the shirt than pressure on them.

Probably won't make any difference to us compared to many teams. However that's not a good thing because our home record was shit before so being unaffected by this isn't a positive thing. Our best hope is that it REALLY affects our opponents in a negative way while we're just as shit as we were before.

I doubt it. Don't know how any teams will play with no crowd, though. Covid fear might yet mean shirking of close tackling. Bottom line, we have the capability to be utter shit anywhere.

Sorry if that's a shrugging response... It's yet another rather tedious hypothetical question. Maybe we'll play better because we're on TV? Or because contact with Moyes will be minimised? Or some players suddenly remember their relegated-salary clauses?

Re: Will we stand a better chance of PL survival playing in an empty London Stadium?
Let's not forget that our away record is still worse than our home one (1.07 points per game at home vs 0.8 points per game away). We've been shit regardless of the crowd.

Only thing in our favour is that all the other teams in the bottom 6 have even worse away form than we do.

Even then home advantage is not just about the crowd but the fact that the away team have had to travel, prepare in unfamiliar surroundings, etc. so it's not as if all the remaining games will be like away ones for both teams.

Given the board, Moyes and even Noble seem to have been putting more effort in trying to get the season voided than focussing on staying up I'd be very surprised if it did.

We'll be no where mid table in any event like you ridiculously claimed.

I said our form will improve with no fans.

Let’s wait and see if I’m right.

Re: Will we stand a better chance of PL survival playing in an empty London Stadium?
Because you based it on the false claim that protests against the board were happening inside the stadium and had detrimental effects on there players.

The FACTS are the two organised protests this season resulted in NO inside the stadium protest and a draw and a win with a much BETTER atmosphere than games where there were no protests.

How has my theory been proved to be bullshit if we haven’t actually played yet?

Unfortunately for you VickyforLettingmywifesleepwithmy mates, your theory on this was immediately proved to be bullshit.

Feel free to try again with another easily disproved theory though.
