Recession
|
Redundancies started last week at the company I work for. By all accounts we are heading for the worst recession on record and a horrendous job market.
Anyone else feeling anxious? I'm dreading the next six months if I'm honest.

We've been really lucky and have been largely unaffected. We had a dip in sales during March and April but are now back to pre covid figures and June, when finished, will be our best month ever.

Why. O why. Didn’t we all stick together. Because the EU is immune to any recession or global shit storm heading our way.!

Surely we can expect Boris’ handling of Brexit to be as successful as He was in facing up to the pandemic?

Surely everyone would be prepared for the inevitable recession when the peasants of Britain voted us out of the EU? The pandemic has just brought this forward a few months. The only saving grace is that a lot of other countries are also going to be fucked ( albeit nowhere near as fucked as us, cheers Boris!) so we may mot be at as much of a disadvantage as we would have with just the inevitable no deal brexit that the abject fools seem so keen on. It's still bad news whatever way you look at it though. I'd have been fluffing up my CV two years ago if I worked for a shaky firm.

This will be a relatively short term adjustment as long as demand is allowed to return to pre-corona levels.
However, if there is capital flight triggered by non-deal Brexit and messy WTO status, the picture for the UK looks very grim indeed.
