England vs West Indies. Cricket is back

Looking forward to this though.

Gower was poached from TMS by Sky as was Bumble.
I like the current iteration and Jonathan Agnew is still good. I can take or leave Simon Mann and Charlie Dagnall and was happy when James Taylor moved on. Graham Swann is annoying when he is being Swanny but very knowledgable (especially on field settings - ditto Michael Vaughn).
I am a bit biased on Dan Norcross as I know him very well (played bad club cricket with him for a decade) but he is very funny bloke and absolutely loves the game. On TMS he sounds just like the times when he would analyise our latest escape for the Sunday Bs.
Andy Zaltzman has been a good addition too.

Not to the extent I heard. What about the world class players Gower and Bothem who were dumped for “Ebs”? Fucking brilliant. If they want to fuck people off due to age get rid of they clown Bumble. He’s been playing the same act for years.

Re Sven Roeder: 4 to win and 3 wickets needed you surely have 4 slips and a gully with the new ball.

Yep, have to agree. If Woakes had got out there it would've got very interesting. To be honest I found the Pakistan field placings very defensive the last couple of hours.

Don't you think two great world class bowers deserve a bit of fawning over Mr Burns?

I appreciate good play by the opposition and Pakistan are a very good side.

It was funny, but when Agnew became the main man it nose dived. I honestly don't have a clue who the commentators are now so it might be great again. It just wasn't when I stopped listening.

Maybe I was working overseas then and couldn't listen to it. I used to find it funny and still is

I thought the sky commentary was abysmal to be honest, gone right downhill. How many times did they say they were looking forward to seeing Pakistans bowlers. All this sycophantic shit as well, fawning all over Was and Warnie. Awful.

Ball wasn’t carrying a lot once it got old but neither team seemed keen on more than 2 slips. Or having them close enough

I've not listened to TMS for years but it was becoming too much of a parody of itself. It was like listening to a bunch of giggling school boys trying too hard to be funny. Might be different now of course.

Prefer the Sky team, a really good mix of people. The overseas commentators are top notch this summer, I'm including Holding in that although he's lived here for years.

I’m not sure Shane Warne is particularly bothered who wins
Just enjoying coining it from Sky watching cricket.

Good, hopefully he can make enough money for the surgery to revert to being a man, or has he gone too far down the Trans change?

Re: England vs West Indies. Cricket is back
I think Warne talks too much for tv commentary but is always interesting when a leg spinner is bowling.
Seems now to spend his life getting paid to watch cricket in England & Australia plus play a bit of poker.
Like a reprobate Richie Benaud.

I like Shane Warne. He knows his stuff and has an engaging personality. He got a couple of predictions right then disappeared.

Sat in a pub in Romford, around 20 blokes in here and I’m the only one watching cricket and got daggers when I stood up and cheered, country dogs etc.

Country Dogs Indeed Ray !!!

Re: England vs West Indies. Cricket is back
Even when test cricket was on the Beeb I would have TMS on the TV commentary turned down

Did anyone watch the The Edge ? , its on I player if you did not. It about the English team getting to number 1 team with Flower in charge and the mental strain of touring and Test cricket for 2 years

I enjoyed that.
Well played Buttler and Woakes.

Re: England vs West Indies. Cricket is back
Well I don’t think many of us saw that coming. Fair play to Buttler - looks like he’s played the innings that will prolong his place in the team. The under scrutiny players always seem to pull it out of the bag when needed. Baitstow was always a master at that.

Great Test match and proof that this is really the only format that matters at the end of the day.
