N’Gakia at West Brom’s training ground today so expect the news of him signing for them imminently.

Knowing our medical team’s history, probably the opposite

Re: Ben Johnson
I had a passenger this morning who reckons he's one of Ben's best mates from school, reckons he's had his groin problems since playing at school- hopefully the treatment he's had with us has solved them now or we'll need more cover.

Sven

Against Manchester United when he played right back his crossing was awful. Against Villa playing left back his crossing was much better. Not that is primary function.Either way we have a talented young player who has adapted to the Premiership well and looks equally comfortable in both full back position.

Re: Ben Johnson
I think Johnson is naturally right footed so should play right back but he confuses people by being able to cross a ball well with his left and play on that side.
Always astonishes me that full time professional players that have often been at a club since they were 8 can be very one footed.

Re: Ben Johnson
I believe he started as a winger but dropped back to being a Right Back Russ.

Is Johnson a more natural right or left back?

Sounds like Ngakia is off to WBA

Re: Ben Johnson
Interesting to see where Ngakia ends up. Was some talk of Germany. Think most youngsters look at Sancho and think that's the way forward now. But could just as easily be the next Reece Oxford.

Impressive...even at LB...
Looks better than Fredricks and Ngakia...

Re: Ben Johnson
This lad yesterday was the one real highlight in the match. He is getting better every match, is strong and fast as fuck, so he can live with most wingers for speed.

He has to be first choice full back from our current squad, but which side? If he feels a lot more comfortable on one particular side, that could decide it. We need something similar on both sides of defense. Young fast strong defenders who know how to defend. Shame about Ngakia, as he like Johnson coped really well against some top quality attackers.

Johnson is the better defensive prospect of the two, without a doubt.

Re: Ben Johnson
Fredericks is absolute pone. Another player who treats the ball like a hot potato despite having played the game from a young child. James Tomkins was similar - it was as if he'd never seen a football before when it got passed to him. You could visibly see him uncomfortable in possession

Re: Ben Johnson
I’d definitely keep snodders. Fills in a few different roles and always gives 100% and chips in with a few goals. Apparently a top bloke to have around as well.

Re: Ben Johnson
I'd have Fredericks in the pile of players we are offering to Championship clubs as part exchanges
Probably : Fredericks Hugill Cullen Holland & probably Snodgrass

Sven Roeder 10:41 Mon Jul 27
Re: Ben Johnson
I'd liked to have Johnson and Ngakia to compete for that position & provide alternatives. Johnson is a better defender & Ngakia better at stretching teams sitting in.
Every team needs 4 full backs & maybe a spare youngster

Re: Ben Johnson
Johnson is miles better than Ngakia.

For a team like ours, we need defenders at fullback first and foremost, because over a season we'll be defending a lot. This kid is an excellent defender, and he's decent enough going forward, which is exactly what we need.

Willtell 10:30 Mon Jul 27
Re: Ben Johnson
I know he was one of ours but I didn't see Ngakia making it in the top flight. He looked like a lower division defender to me.

Perhaps his idea of how good he is exceeds his ability because so far, he is still unattached. ...

Re: Ben Johnson
He is right footed but whipped over a couple of very nice crosses with his left towards the end. Very encouraging, but it needs clarifying if he is a RB or a LB?
