Haven't seen the film Birdy but I do have the album Birdy by Peter Gabriel, is the film worth seeing?

Angel Heart and Birdy for me in my yoot. That he could direct such disparate films, and talent, so well is some achievement.

Sad, as 76 is quite "young" these days in some ways... but a bit shocked at recent photos of him. Very overweight. RIP.

Midnight Express and Mississippi Burning were absolutely fantastic. Loved Bugsy Malone as a kid and The Commitments was also very decent. RIP.

Sad news.
Birdy, The Wall, Midnight Express and Mississippi Burning were all films that stayed with me for various reasons.

A very good film
What stands out is the wide variety of films he directed from Bugsy Malone & Evita to Midnight Express & Mississippi Burning

RIP
