Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
To be docked 12 points next season.

All over some dodgy dealings and the sale of there ground? Will an appeal see it overturned? Don’t think so, only "Big" clubs like Man city with mega rich influential owners can achieve that.........

Also, Charlton livid and threatening legal action as they think it should be applied for the season just finished, so they stay up!!!

It’s a Championship thing.
This is to do with showing a loss in breach of FFP over a 3 year period not about the terms of the sale.
The sale to the owner was fine.
Telling lies about what year it happened is the problem

Surface.

Agree.

Especially when the sale of Upton Park has a strong whiff of dodgy dealings from G&S. Why is that not being investigated?
Not that I want a 12 points deduction, but if that was the deal it would be a tough decision!

I'd just like to say I couldn't give a fuck about Charlton, Wednesday, Wigan, Barnsley or Accrington Stanley.

That is all. I thank you for your time.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
So what happens when the owners of Hillsborough sell it off to build loads more modern slums in Sheffield? Sheffield Wednesday will end up like Coventry, homeless!

FFP and the fit and proper test for club ownership are fucking hopeless, I don't know why they bother!

Wigan lose their appeal against the 12 point deduction
Relegated and Barnsley stay up

If the big 6 in the PL decide to join a European Super L (sic), would any of those 8 clubs be interested in leaving the EFL and joining the new (highly televised) Premier League?

Just asking, like...

EIGHT other clubs now supporting Charlton (according to BBC).
Could get very messy. At least the EFL have all summer to sort it (and Wigan) out. Oh.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
The issue to me is the false accounting by Sheff Wed who falsified their accounts to bypass FFP rules.
The fact that the true position means they should be penalised 12 points is one thing.
The fraud should mean expulsion from the league

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
A better decision might be for Wednesday to forfeit all the points they won since the sale of their ground and award them to whoever they beat.

That way the result of the punishment for transgression applies to the whole league.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
If Charlton benefitted by staying up this season it would have been an incidental benefit and a stroke of very good fortune. They had no entitlement to this benefit any more Sheffield United were entitled to any benefit had we been deducted points over Tevez. They went down on merit

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
As soon as the FA explain why it took months to rule on something (the sale date of the ground) which is a matter of fact perhaps we can have a sensible decision.
Seems obvious to me the 12 points should be this season given we are between seasons

They haven’t decided the Wigan appeal yet so the league is in FLUX

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
Would we have taken a 12 points deduction next season for fucking up the Tevez papers?

Maybe Charlton are looking for a loophole but they have a point.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
Surely the points deduction should apply within the season where the transgression happened, as that is when they benefited financially over other teams?

I can totally see why Charlton are fuming

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
Charlton were shit and deserved to go down, they can see a loophole to get out of it..maybe?

Not sure if Wednesday will appeal, but can understand the points deduction being for next season, seems resaonable to me as the decison i think seems to have been reached AFTER the season has finished.

Just a pity and the sorry state of football, all the legal action or threats of it at every opportunity.

Re: Sheffield Wednesday Points deduction
They sold their ground then tried to pretend it happened in the next season to comply with the FFP provisions about how much you can lose in a 3 year period
Open and shut case and absolutely no reason why it shouldn’t be applied to this season.
