National Fish n Chip day today!
Bit late for this post but it's national fish and chip day today if there's anything better if like to know?

Just tucking into a large rock with a few jockeys.
Table salt and Sarson's malt vinagar being the only
Accompliament, nothing else comes remotely close to a proper Friday evening supper.

Has to come with mushy pies, sitting in a pool of vinager and loads of black pepper.

Curry sauce is an absolute abomination.

Reincarnation is an incredibly bleak way of imagining existence.

One life, you're a bloke who enjoys cod. The next, you're a cod. And then you're the worm in the flesh of a cod which causes the cod to be thrown back after death, so it doesn't even serve the purpose of being an accompaniment to chips.

Was this thread inspired by Gary Linekar's Fish & chips video?

Cook your chips the Belgian way. First in lard or tallow then again in sunflower oil. It's like a potato fritters.

That’s a fair question asked in a civil manner.

I suppose it’s a matter of respect borne of the hard work of rod-and-line fishing with heavy tackle off a small boat in heavy seas. It’s cold, wet and the sudden roll and pitch will smash you into the caste iron bulkhead so you feel it in the ribs for weeks. The whole thing takes around 18 hours as well. Also the cod itself is a handsome fish with its olive and golden brown markings and sleek head and upper body. There’s some kind of connection formed as it gives its life away difficult to describe in words. As an angler yourself you might appreciate it better than others.

I have had the misfortune of getting Involed (construction, groundwork,RC frames)for Indians.Ive found them to be unreliable bullshitting liars.
I'm owed a couple a of grand which I've put down to experience to say they are penny wise pound stupid is a huge understatement.
The wankers will never compete with The Irish.
Anyone in the building game should avoid all Indians they are absolute cunts. They make Albanians
look like saints.
Almost everyone I know says similar

Must admit I've always been a cod man although notherners love haddock.
I'll give haddock a go next Friday.

I've recently started to go right off a Friday night currys as most of the shitholes my way are run by young rude Bangladeshi flash little cunts who never bin fuck all.
Wouldn't entertain a meat curry nowadays.
Fucking filth.

As a kid all of my chips were cooked in lard. I must give it a go as I've forgotten how they tasted.

I find fish bland, particularly white fish.

I love a pie or saveloy but the fish can do one.

Toe Rag 10:44 The one in Meopham isn't too bad mate but if you're ever down this way again pop into The Brothers fish and chips in Gravesend.
They only cook to order and they won best take away in the SE or something like that, the owner Manny does mine exactly how I like it.

When I used to play for the Old Parks at Fairlop if only one team was at home on a Saturday one of the players would get sent to Hi Tide with the subs and come back with 23 fish/chicken and chips.

Mentioned it a few times before on here, but Zigmans on Prince Regent Lane was owned first by my great grandfather Sam Zigman and then, from the 50s onwards, my grandparents, until they sold up in the summer of 81 (final portion of chip price - 16p). My first memory is of the shop done up in claret and blue in 1975 and then going to a street party round the corner from Burley Road after we'd won the cup.

Best f&c had recently was from a place called Rowlies in Pembroke about six weeks ago.

Brentford - Very pricey.

Re: National Fish n Chip day today!
I would agree that a good fish and chip shop is increasingly hard to find these days.

I find a lot of them in London anyway are run by Turkish families and fish and chips is just one part of what they do alongside the elephants leg, burgers, kebabs and even fried chicken.

They just don’t cut the mustard.

The last time I really enjoyed it was when I was passing through Meopham and found a chippie there. Maybe it was because I’d been working late and was starving but I’d go back there just for their fish and chips haha.
