I depressed her 15 years ago by quoting Schiller's "Auch das Schöne muß vergehen".

Before that, she was a "people" person.

Fair enough. I do find it genuinely confusing these days, as the boundaries have become more and more blurred.

I find Kraftwerk interesting as their whole 'thing', seems so anti rock and roll. In a way I am surprised that they do conventional gigs, as what they do almost seems wrong for that environment?

To be honest, not a lot apart from the singing - one of them is actually controlling the light show. The do vary the mix every night and control the machines to an extent.
It was the vision that they always wanted and the tech has caught up with at last.
For those who claim that Kraftwerk have no soul listen to Neon Nights from Maximum Minumum - it is beautifully human. Failing that the original album version of Autobahn - considering what technology was available then it is astonishing.

Re: I am not a Robot

"Could never understand the appeal of Kraftwerk".

Question for those who have greater insight than me into these things.

I recently watched a video of Kraftwerk playing live, taken from a balcony in the venue, so you could see them tweaking their machines on their four lecterns from above.

Exactly how what they were doing was a part of what I was hearing was not clear to me. Clearly a lot of the audio was coming from a pre-generated track. So my question is what is the distinction between being a 'band' like Kraftwerk or being 4 DJs on stage?
