BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION vs MANCHESTER UNITED (1230 ko)
A thumping 3-0 victory at St James Park last week suggests that the Seagulls may not be the ready fodder some thought they’d be this season. As for the visitors, capitulating at home to Palace sends all manner of unwanted messages to armchair occupants the length and breadth of the realm. Which makes predicting this less than straightforward. Still fancy the Mancs, though. Away win.

CRYSTAL PALACE vs EVERTON (1500)
Both sides have maximum points from their opening two games, so something will give this afternoon. It’s hard to separate the two based on form. Hence: Draw.

WEST BROMWICH ALBION vs CHELSEA (1730)
Chelsea have stuck their nose where it doesn’t belong and have more than enough top players to mount a challenge this season. West Brom are already struggling and that looks set to continue. Away win.

BURNLEY vs SOUTHAMPTON (2000)
Both teams are yet to register a point. The Saints looks fragile in defence, as they did this time last season. Burnley are invariably well organised. The consequence? Home win.

SUNDAY

SHEFFIELD UNITED vs LEEDS UNITED (1200)
Ee by gum, Yorkshire folk will be having orgasms at the prospect of this – and it looks all set to be another cracker. Leeds have scored eight and conceded eight, while Sheffield have conceded three and scored none to date. Another goal fest might be too much to ask, but a rollicking affair it still should be. Draw.

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR vs NEWCASTLE UNITED (1400)
It’s too early for Gareth Bale, apparently. The golf course hasn’t brought his fitness to the required level. But Spurs can be grateful for today’s inconsistent opposition – as, one may suppose, we should have been on the opening day. Home win.

MANCHESTER CITY vs LEICESTER CITY (1630)
Leicester top the nascent table going into this and only a good thrashing will put them below their hosts at the final whistle. Citeh will be keen to regain their Premier League crown. They’ve started well and few would bet against them taking all three points today. Home win.

WEST HAM UNITED vs WOLVERHAMPTON WANDERERS (1900)
Wolves were slow out of the blocks last season too, but the chances they create are a constant threat. They are reported to have a number of injury worries. In our camp, Covid-19 does not seem to have claimed anyone else since midweek and we don’t want to see any unforced self-isolation on the pitch today. When we play well, we’re capable of testing any opposition. When. We’re going to have to be at our best this evening if we’re to get anything. Draw.

An Arsenal fan was telling me Mane ran past the ball to put his forearm in the Arsenal defenders head and that Jota controlled the ball with his hand before scoring but couldn’t find mention of either incident in the bbc match report
So obviously didn’t happen

I was looking forward to a good game of football last night but after Mane's forearm smash only attracted a yellow then scored the equalizer 2 minutes later I was a little bit sick in my mouth and swiftly turned it off and watched Nigella instead.

Harsh. Couple of lapses of concentration in generally good defending.

Yep. Liverpool twats all over twitter saying Mané was shielding the ball. Hilarious.

I’m no longer disappointed to have lost to Arsenal, I’m beginning to feel embarrassed.

How did we lose to this limp dick of a team?

I know it’s Liverpool, but we gave them much more of a match at Anfield back in February.

Mane lucky to still be on the pitch, and then goes on to equalise. But at least referees never favour big teams, right?

The idea of an outfield player in a helmet is a nonsense.
Unfair advantage in heading duels
I also thought Cech should have been allowed one or two games in one and then be forced to to take it off or retire.

After losing 9 PL games last season, the debacle against Lyon in the Champions league and dismal defending like this I might, as a Man City owner, be asking what the genius Pep is up to.
Has spent hundreds of millions on defenders.
Mainly duds
