WHO Poll
Q: 2022 Summer Transfer Window - How many 1st team players will we sign before August 6th
a. None as Sullivan will wait until the last week before he gets his scattergun out the cupboard
b. A couple of freebies paraded as superstars, usual hype to follow
c. I'm more optimistic as surely they know we need to strengthen, 3-4 with decent money spent.
d. Who gives a toss as we have a great squad already, I've already ordered the new replica kit, socks and all and can't wait to wear it at our first game, down the pub of course, I bleed claret & blue

Team for Leicester
By far the easiest team to pick so far this season, on the basis of not changing a winning team, along with the fact that none of the squad players from the Everton game did anywhere near enough to break into the PL side. Obviously the only change is due to Fredericks' injury so Johnson keeps his place. I would think it's too early for Coufal to play, but wouldn't be surprised if he comes off the bench.

I have to mention our left side - I am still in shock at how good Cresswell and Masuaku were. They were decent against Arsenal and superb against Wolves, nullifying the threat of Traore and Samedo and also combining well in attack. I suppose it's only a matter of time until Cresswell's lack of height sees him caught out at the back post, and you can't help wondering if he'll keep his place if we get a new cb, but for now, credit to Moyes for seeing something in Cresswell that most of us couldn't imagine.

Balbuena Ogbonna Cresswell
Johnson Soucek Rice Masuaku
Bowen Antonio Fornals

Spot on Any Old Iron, Everton wanted to win it, we didn't, simple as that. We fielded a mainly reserve team and didn't even try subs at the right time! I like having British owners and don't want yanks or middle east/russian crooks but Sullivan has ruined our club, really find it hard to give a toss any more which I never thought possible

Thanks to the complete fuckwittery of Moyes, the Everton defeat may well have damaged team morale and I expect us to get a good hiding. For that reason I don't give a fucking shit who the cunt picks and will do my best to ignore the game.
See, that'll teach 'em.

Keep a winning team, you would of thought yes but that back 3 is extremely slow.
Pity we didn't give Ashby more game time, strong, quick and young.
Can't see Balbuena out running Vardy or Barnes

Fornals work rate is top notch...not sure we can afford Haller on the pitch unless he turns into Sadio Mane

I don't disagree re Fornals work rate. I just think work rate isn't enough. However, ultimately it's all rearranging deckchairs on the Titanic. It's new owners we need to pick before a new manager or worrying about who starts where. #GSBOUT

Re: Team for Leicester
Yes, a different kind of test. The only player we have with serious pace is Masuaku, so he definitely needs to stay back when we have corners or set-pieces. Otherwise we've got to be very aware of them breaking with pace. Also got to be much more savvy in defence than City were last week. That c*nt Vardy has a favourite trick of stepping into the path of defenders to try to buy penalties and free kicks. Don't want to see that smug grin on his ratty face at the end of this one.

Re: Team for Leicester
I agree with that Exile, I was going to put a formation I thought was a better representation and chickened out!
I guess as its 5 defenders, it can be 5-4-1, but the wing backs spend a lot of time forward and so perhaps 3-4-2-1 is better, or 3-2-2-2-1, but that is ridicules.

I also noticed Antonio making long runs back chasing after players and then staying back defending until the next break was on, when he’d be off up front again as fast as he could, really impressive player. I missed Bowen taking up a forward role.
I also noticed, Cresswell went over to a more left back role sometimes when Masuaku was up front. At times it looked more like a back 4 as the right wing back was not so forward.

It really was an enjoyable game, obviously the mounting score line helped a lot. Really looking forward to Leicester. It’s a much tougher game and a team that like to counter as well. Not sure who will be enticed to go for more possession and be more open to a counter attack? Let’s hope it’s just continue end to end counter attacking football!

Mex - yes, aware of that. I just wrote out the formation in the simplest way possible. It will vary when we're attacking or defending.

Incidentally, I was so impressed during the Wolves game with how we played as a team, covering for each other. For example, I noticed a couple of times when Antonio lost the ball in an advanced position he chased right back to try to win the ball back, and while he was doing that, Bowen took his place as the most advanced forward. Similarly, Rice hangs back when Soucek makes one of his runs into the box. It's not rocket science but I thought it was a good demonstration of Moyes's philosophy of picking willing runners.

Yep that should be the team.
Not sure of that’s the formation though...

Dont see anyway in for Haller until Antonio gets injured.

Especially now with 3 at the back.

If Moyes had it his way think he would of been sold this summer.

Got to be the easiest prediction ever. No subs ( being saved for this game ) in the week and an absolute shower of shite on the pitch from those trying to get into the first 11.

The new lad will likely be on the bench. Just hope we can maintain the performance level. The results don't always follow ( as we saw at L'Arse ) but over a run of games we at least have a chance and give teams a game.

The issue is consistency and avoiding injuries because our squad is criminally unbalanced and shallow. Lose Soucek or Rice we are in trouble , Antonio or Ogbonna too.

Re: Team for Leicester
Re the original post, Masuaku was great going forwards and at the back he was good in periods but in the last 20 minutes of the Wolves match Masuaku allowed three crosses into the box when he could have closed down. He had a good match but he's not suddenly our answer at the back whether LB or LWB. People see one good performance and go OTT.

I'd go with same team as Vs Wolves only with Haller in for Fornals and Antonio on the right.

I don't actually think Cresswell or Masuaku are good enough to start in the long term but I'd start with them because what other choice do we have.

Vexed - FFS get over yourself. Forget Everton, this is the team that outplayed Arsenal and thrashed Wolves.
