Seeing how solid defensively we are under Moyes, and taking into considering his fantastic attitude and apparent talent you all talk of, it's hard to see how at 24 he seems to be getting worse in what is now a solid team set up, and weird that Moyes has him as clear 4th choice.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
It’s not as if Diops attitude is in question. We’ve seen him perform so it’s a drop in form same as Balbeuna and Ogbonna have been through. The ones we need to be tough of were Haller, Anderson types etc.

What message does it send to the other players that if you are not performing, you will be shipped out?

I'd say it's the sort of message we should have been sending to players as standard since the club formed, ffs

I know we are not allowed to speak about things said on the past on here, because everyone seems to be very sensitive these days, but as I said in the summer we should have been looking to sell Diop when we would still have got half decent money, and use the funds to strengthen where we really needed it. We'd get barely fuck all for him now, considering what we paid. Centre backs do get better as they get older, but he's not a pup, he's 24 and looks like he's making his senior debut every time he plays.

I also said we should have signed Dawson when he left West Brom. If his price really is set at £2mil, that'll be absolutely superb business.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
I certainly don't want to sell Diop as there's a decent player hidden in there somewhere. But there is actually plenty of logic to loaning him out - he's not getting in our team unless two other CBs are injured so how is he going to work on his game and improve himself while he's stuck at West Ham? Loan him out and he gets experience and some much needed playing time. Some other club gets to pay his wages too, not that this would ever be a consideration at West Ham...

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
My view is slightly different Comma. I think Diop is Mr Laid Back and doesn't have the determination so admired by Moyes. That probably shows up in training.

Dawson on the other hand doesn't have the natural ability of Diop but has determination by the ton. Determined CBs are better than aimless strollers.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Diop looks like one of those players who needs a run of games to hit best form. Some players can come in from being longer term benched/injured and perform nearly st their best.

These days the only way a player like Diop can fine tune is limited. It’s a conundrum the coaching staff need to solve because there is undoubted talent in the lad. If we sell him and he ends up getting a regular run of games, improves his form, plays at his undoubted potential the club will be well criticised.

What message does it send to the team. When Diop struggles for a bit of form we try and ship him out? We know he’s got something so why not try build it back up.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Diop looked really nervous in his first preseason with us so I think that’s how he rolls. Few games into the season and he got his shit together and was even getting called ‘a beast of a player’......can’t fathom what went wrong but even I remember him dominating Luckaku(sp) in a fine win over Man U.

I was hoping Pearce would sort him out send him bare knuckle boxing or something....so he could learn to take a whack and then dish it out a bit.

Makes me laugh how fickle some really are. We're on a good run, for once, so yea let's start loaning out players that cost us 15 mil, was a first choice not so long ago and was even rumoured to be attracting interest from big clubs.

'You aint good enough for us now son, off you go' And oh, if we get some injuries never mind.

Laughable stuff.

exile - Nah, don't agree with that at all. What is the benefit to us to loan Diop out?? Makes no sense at all.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Chigwell - agreed. Diop must be 4th choice currently, so the best thing for him would be to go out on loan.

Re: Craig Dawson signed season - long loan
Back to the subject of Dawson (if you chaps don't mind for a minute): looking at the Doncaster match, both our "reserve" centre backs seemed extremely nervous and error-prone. Balbuena started to find his feet as it became clear that Doncaster offered little threat, but I thought that Diop looked ponderous throughout, and even his simple passing lacked timing and placement. Confidence seems to have deserted them both. So, long may Dawson keep up his current form alongside Ogbonna.

Swiss
Yes we regularly get sanglier rooting around our fields and the local hunt often shoot them on neighbouring orchards.

More often we see chevreuil and lièvre. Gibier we tend to see when we walk neighbouring fields and our Setter Anglais points then puts them up but I don’t hunt wildlife.

Mind you last week one of the hunt organisers dropped around a fresh leg of chevreuil which went in freezer...
