Virtual Reality
Bloody clever innit?

I’m down with the kids and have myself a Oculus Quest. Apart from the initial constant headaches and motion sickness it’s going well.

Technology has certainly progressed since my ZX Spectrum 48k.

Anyone else ventured into this futuristic wormhole?

I've lived in virtual reality for most of my life - as I learned very quickly that reality wasn't a nice place.

It's great!

Re: Virtual Reality
Originally went with the HTC vive.

Was a bit pricey but worked really well issue is the quality of the product .

One controller is broken and keeps needing fixing also the nose grip fell out.
Again self repair as the cost to get it fixed other wise is stupid.

Seems their latest release is a pile of poo. So if I was too look again i'd probably go with the new occulus but I hate the idea you have to signup to face book which I don't have.

This is the Developer's Reddit account page:

https://www.reddit.com/user/vs119/

Lots of video's of IB Cricket on there, and he talks in some posts about plans to bring to the Quest in the near future (although how 'near' that is, who knows since it's currently only in demo on Rift).

Gregan:

No access to a PC/Computer of any kind? Sidequest supports Linux and Mac too.

Yeah I've Cricket Club VR, and also the IB Cricket demo (which is frankly better, but is currently only a demo....although I believe they do plan to bring this to Quest).

Re: Virtual Reality
Stubbo you have all the stuff I want but I don't have a PC for sidequest or to download stuff stuff so can watch films on bigscreen or Skybox.

Is that cricket club you play? Gutted it's not on the quest. I sadly adapt eleven table tennis to play a kind of cricket net session using the ball machine, lowering the table and making a DIY handle adaptor for the controller. It works cos the physics are so good

I've got the Playstation version. Don't use it as much as i used to, but Tetris is incredible. Beatsabre decent as already mentioned and the VR Worlds good fun.

Re: Virtual Reality
Depends what you're playing re Motion Sickness. If you dive straight in on a rally or roller coaster sim then prepare to revisit what you had for lunch, but something like Beat Saber which is pretty much stationary, or reflective of the motion you are actually making shouldn't present a great deal of problem.

The latest model should show an improvement regarding motion sickness.

Re: Virtual Reality
I've got a Quest 2.

Use it for Beat Saber, Eleven Table Tennis, and a few other games.

Can also get some great freebies via SideQuest 2 like Pavlov, Crisis VRigade and Contractors.

Really good...pros an cons vs Quest 1 but on balance glad to have upgraded.

Have also hooked up the streaming solution on it so get to watch the club's charges on a 180 inch screen!

My son has a PS4 with a PSVR headset.

Some of the games are amazing.

If I spend too long on it though, motion sickness kicks in

Re: Virtual Reality
There was an amusing video of an old woman using a VR set in her bedroom when her son walked in.

I'd imagine that's probably a lot of what it will get used for.

It wont be long before you can buy a VR season ticket for the footy. It's the future for sure.
