West Ham United lining up Sami Khedira offer?

West Ham United are reportedly keen to sign Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira during the January transfer window.

Having been frozen out by recently-appointed boss Andrea Pirlo, Khedira has acknowledged that he is open to a move to the Premier League in 2021.

Despite being well stocked for options in the centre of the pitch, it has been suggested that Manchester United may look to bring in the Germany international.

However, according to Sport Mediaset, the Hammers have emerged as leading contenders for the 33-year-old.

Much could depend on whether Juventus are prepared to hand Khedira a free transfer due to his absence from the first-team picture this season.

The player's deal is due to expire in the summer, meaning that pre-contract agreements could potentially be reached with foreign sides in January.

Report: West Ham fans might not see £70k-a-week player ever again

According to MLS Soccer, Sporting Kansas City could sign Winston Reid from West Ham on a permanent basis.

The report states that a source has revealed Reid could become a full-time Sporting KC player if he and the American outfit believe there’s a ‘mutual’ fit.

The 32-year-old moved to Major League Soccer in February, signing a loan deal with the Kansas-based outfit.

Since then, the New Zealand international has made ten appearances for Sporting KC, scoring one goal.

However, if MLS Soccer‘s source is to be believed, then West Ham fans might’ve seen the last of the man who has made 223 appearances for the Hammers.

Reid – who earns an annual salary of £3.64 million, which equates to £70,000-a-week – last appeared for West Ham on March 3rd 2018 against Swansea.

The centre-back suffered a bad injury in that 4-1 defeat, and eventually fell so far down the pecking order that he left to join Sporting KC.

Reid seems to be finding his feet once again over in the United States, and at 32 years of age, he is perhaps reaching an age where he might not be as effective as he once was in the Premier League.

So, as aforesaid, if both he and Sporting KC believe there’s a ‘mutual’ fit, West Ham fans might’ve seen the last of their Auckland-born defender.

Come to think of it Matt Dawson could be a better option than Craig Dawson

Good to see Winston Reid has managed 10 games in USA
.
hope someone from the club is keeping an eye on his progress. If he returns to anywhere near his fitness could be a better option than Matt Dawson.

We were linked with Khedira a couple of years ago when he had been permanently injured for a couple of years.
Was wrong then & even worse 2 years later

Reid will never play proper football again so MLS & New Zealand is his limit
We will have to pay some of his wages til the end of his contract but so be it. Whoever gave him a 6 year contract was a dope. Shame as he did good things for us incl the last Upton Park goal & putting the ball in the pikeys net
