Haller - Gone To Ajax
We're becoming a good side now. Relegation should'nt be a problem now, but to kick on to a solid top 10 side Moyes has to solve the problem with Haller. He doesn't do anything particularly well. Yes he'll score every now and then but as an all round prom striker - very poor indeed.

Shame, but he's not up to the job and will hold us back from progressing.

Bowen is not a No 9 or a false 9 as will be found out when Antonio is out injured for a long spell.Hopefully this won't happen. Against Genk this was evident. We struggled and sent in crosses into the box where there was no one. Fuck knows why Yarma wasn't moving in more central.

Set pieces got us out of jail. It's a warning to come without Antonio.

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
Haller was never going to be happy being a backup, and how can you be backup if you don't fit the system anyway? Bowen makes a better backup than Haller

"you'd literally have to build an entire squad around him"

As a back up to Antonio? Why?

When Brentford had XI behind the ball at our place and we were trying to break them down I think a Haller would have been useful. We won't always be able to rely in our counter attacking style.

Luckily our set plays are getting us results.

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
you'd literally have to build an entire squad around him. He didn't fit here and it was a poor short sighted signing probably more by Sullivan than the equally short sighted managerial appointee at the time. If you look at Haller's goals thy are mostly speculative strikes rather than the well worked team goals that we have become more accustomed to seeing under Moyes.

He'll be great in the right team but for us an expensive gamble that did not pay.

To get to the bonkers conclusion that we'd never be 4th now if we still had Haller, you'd have to start with the daft assumption that he'd start every game, rather than just be backup for Antonio.

If Haller is just backup, then we wouldn't be changing our style to accommodate him.

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
Haller clearly isn’t shit but he didn’t fit into our team/squad/system/work ethic. Moyes had a real good look at him to assess and he decided to get rid. I’d imagine that decision was based on Haller’s influence in the dressing room too, as well as on the pitch.

I’d say that’s the reason why Anderson is no longer with us either. Sometimes you have to just cut your losses rather than persist with something that will clearly never work.

I doubt that Haller and Anderson were bad people, more that they just weren’t in the mould of player/person that Moyes wants in and around his club.

It’s hard to argue with what Moyes has done, given where we are right now.

But Haller was originally brought in by Pelle to lead the line but ended up being the back up to Antonio under Moyes. I'm sure his attitude was a big factor due to this and I'm not saying he didn't act unprofessionally at this point.

He's clearly not shit and for the sake of not losing 20m I would have kept him as back up until a better option came up. Instead we spend 20m on Vlasic.

It’s just my opinion. But I think we have been good because the whole team plays a certain way. Haller didn’t fit into that way of playing. So I think it follows that we wouldn’t have done as well.

I think Haller is an excellent goal scorer. But we need more than that to compete with the teams in this league. There are lots of excellent goal scorers in this league. Danny Ings, Giroud before he left for Italy etc.

But being a great goal scorer doesn’t mean your team will be better overall. Look at what’s happening at Man Utd with Ronaldo. He is scoring but at what cost to the team?

It’s similar with Haller and us.
The difference between Bowen and Antonio leading the line for us vs Haller is that the former two offer more than just goals. They give us an outlet up top. They give us pressing and defence further up the pitch etc

I just find it odd that people who watch football obsessively like we do can’t see that Haller is good but not good for us.

And yes I’m aware I’m still talking about him and am a complete hypocrite… but this wouldn’t be WHO if every single person on here wasn’t a completely ignorant hypocritical arsehole at times now would it?

Haller = square peg in a round hole here. It happens. Move on.

My gawd! Leave it alone. It’s like stalking an ex girlfriend. She’s your ex for a reason ffs!
We are 4th and geezers still talking about Lingard.

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
Furthermore, would Haller have got the 9 goals Lingard got breaking from midfield? No.
Would Haller have got the goals Antonio got last season? No
Would Haller continue to be a 45m back up striker to Antonio? No

So many blood reasons!

I guarantee we would be nowhere near 4th if Haller was still at the club. He broke how we played. And we can’t change a whole squad so it’s easier to change 1 guy. It’s that simple.

We get it. Haller isn't shit. It's not necessary to keep going on about it.

But he was a shit fit for us, and we have clearly benefitted even more than he has from his departure.

Please mods lock this shit it's got nothing to do with West Ham.
Hasn't anyone noticed that Haller and Anderson couldn't hack the Moyes system so it was inevitable they'd look better in inferior leagues

Boris.

He has 7 goals and 3 assists in 10 games. And 6 in 3 in the CL. He’s doing the business for them whatever way you wanna look at it.

Swiss - the fact that Arsenal are rated 14 in that euroindex and we are 25th tells you everything you need to know about it.

Ajax have 37 league goals which he has scored 7 of them. Being the focal point of best team in shit league that return isn’t too impressive

Swiss,

Whether he could hack it or not, he wasn't suited to the way we play and didn't put the effort in. He clearly has some ability as a few of his goals showed, but he looked like a typical moody frenchman who didn't want to be there.

For me, the mistake was not selling him. It will be in not replacing him with someone more suitable.

Swiss. 8:48 Sun Oct 24
Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
Haller is scoring against teams like Dortmund, Sporting and PSV who are higher ranked than the bottom 10 teams in the PL see https://www.euroclubindex.com/.

Anyone who thinks he therefore couldn't cut it in the PL (if better managed) is a cretin.

See Block that's ANALYSIS for you. Mong head.
