Haller - Gone To Ajax
We're becoming a good side now. Relegation should'nt be a problem now, but to kick on to a solid top 10 side Moyes has to solve the problem with Haller. He doesn't do anything particularly well. Yes he'll score every now and then but as an all round prom striker - very poor indeed.

Shame, but he's not up to the job and will hold us back from progressing.

10 league goals in 48 league games isn't a bad record for a PL striker. not great but not awful.

not £40m worth of good but the fee isn't his fault.

It just proves he's not a Premier League standard footballer, and couldn't cope with the league.

Anyone with half a brain would know this, I'd have thought being an ANALYST you'd have picked up on this.

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
As many mention , he was not suited to the role he played for us where he was asked to hold the ball up and play as a single striker and linked to that was the problem he had dealing with the pace and physicality of the Premiership.

Being slow is one thing which can be compensated for ,to some extent, by having the strength to hold off opponents and protect the ball. He could not either. Seemed so lightweight.

He probably plays better in a pair and playing off someone else who leads the line physically etc.

Sometimes the "fit" just does not work. If he came back to the Premiership and was not playing for one of the top 3 or 4 , he would similarly struggle IMHO.

Good for him that he is doing well in the Eredivisie league. Was painful watching him suffer both for the team and himself.

He'd have probably got on the end of a few of those crosses in the first half last night. All academic as we won comfortably, but he could have probably nicked a few.

To me he looked like a bloke playing pub football on a sunday morning hungover to fuck, down the local park, who during the game realises that he has left the gas cooker back on at home.

Let me make it simple for a thick cunt like you.

Some posters on here are stating that Haller is out and out shit. Yes he had shit games for us towards the end (mitigating circumstances to be considered) but he had good games as well. It has been proven by by his recent scoring record he is not shit.

Very simple.

Nobody's judging him on his goal celebration (or lack of). I judge him on what he did in the game. Which wasn't very much.

The goal celebration was discussed as it perhaps gave off something about his attitude.

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
Does he celebrate when he scores for Ajax? From what Fraser said he doesn’t. I had a different take on his none celebration. I thought it was modesto, not wanting to get the plaudits and lime light. He always congratulated who had passed to him. I don’t remember well , but I think he celebrated/ congratulated other goal scorers.
I think he didn’t run and fight enough for the premier league. Its a tough league no time to think. He didn’t like it and gave up a bit. Best thing was he left, annoying we lost money on it, but thats a crazy side of football.

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
He's done that goal celebration his whole career from what I've seen. Judge him on his play his effort. But judging a player because you don't like his goal celebration is just bizarre.

"Another observation, when he did score (rarely) you will always notice he never really celebrated."

This was something that always stuck out to me as well. There seemed to be no joy in it for him, like he was just grinding out a paycheck but an immense one that most people would give their left arm for such a chore. I have no regrets about letting him go. He also didn't have the pace or quickness to cope with the defenders in this league.

Which includes teams like Sherif, Malmo, club brugge, kiev, who are absolutely fucking shit.

You not heard of the Champions League you thick cunt?

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
Why are we still talking about him. Yes he is scoring but no longer with us, playing in a lesser league after proving he could cut it in the prem.

Norflundon 4:02 Thu Oct 21
Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
He was a lazy Cunt who was weak as puss that couldn’t hack it in the prem. plus the league he is playing in is an awful standard probably no better than the championship

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
Ajax played a 4-2-3-1 formation the other night which is what play every game and he scored one and had two.assists.

I still can't work out why he was so inept for us. He has the physique to succeed in the Premier League. Did he not want to play for us? Could it be the reason why he never looked interested? Or is he just a lazy French tw@t? In the words of Toyah Wilcox it's a mystery

Spot on.

The people defending his turgid performances and blame the set up, formation, tactics etc etc seem to miss that point. As a player at whatever level you play, even if your played out of position, or the formation doesn't suit you or the tactics aren't working, you make sure you do one thing. Leave it all out there. It may not be enough, but as you walk off you know in your heart you've given your all.

He was just a lazy cunt. End of. He had a nice touch and in his early games I was hugely impressed with his holding up of the ball and link up play. But, for that money, that's a given at that level. He never looked totally committed and never ever left it all out there. That was his problem. And when we had our resurgence with Moyes at the helm, all the other players moved forward as a group and left him behind.

Another observation, when he did score (rarely) you will always notice he never really celebrated. He was very muted. he allowed the other players to jump on him and hug him but he was rather stony faced. For me, that indicated a person that felt he was better than us. Someone who was almost saying "I'm not celebrating because that's what I do". For me it stunk of a bad attitude. A person that wasn't integrated into the team ethos. A player that felt he was above all of this nonsense. I may be wrong but that's the vibe I got off him.

Glad he's gone. Was a rotten apple.

“Haller as a loan forward”

Some would wish!

Re: Haller - Gone To Ajax
We signed a few strikers in recent years whose strengths we never played to. We seemed to have stopped that problem by not signing strikers anymore.
