Air Miles
Do any of you partake ?

Was watching a video of this bloke flying a first class trip Heathrow to Hong Kong, after he redeemed his air miles it only cost him £275.

What are the best deals around ?

Did companion flight with air miles just before covid. Two tickets. First class Heathrow Dubai return. £950 for the pair.

Got a mate who runs a building firm and does a lot of his buying on the BA Amex. He’s got just shy of 5 million air miles. Not sure how he’s ever gonna spend them!

Re: Air Miles
Same as OTB - everything goes through a credit card that will earn miles. I use the BA Premium Plus Amex and get 1.5 per £

Spend £10k a year on it and you get a two for one voucher for redemptions.

Keep an eye on the various blogs to get offers (usually in credit card bonuses) etc.

The missus and I are doing Barbados later this year, and the old man and I are doing Singapore next year - all on miles and with vouchers.

Best thing I was able to do though was get to Tokyo and back from Singapore, where I was working, (via Kula Lumpur out and Beijing back) for the Rugby World Cup final for a tonne of miles and about £30. Intra-Asia flights are amazingly good value

Not as good as it used to be, been a bunch of devaluations - but still definitely worth doing

Re: Air Miles
I use miles to upgrade if i can find a deal. If you book now for travel later in the year, much of the upgradeable inventory is wide open because nobody is travelling or booking business Travel - I'm referring to United as that's who i collect points with

Re: Air Miles
I do with Virgin as 'used to' fly to the US.
Always use them to upgrade to Premium and a few years back flew back First Class from Vegas.

First Class isn't for me though, can't look out the window and I can't sleep on planes so it was worth it just to do it and have proper food etc but I won't do it again.

Have flown business with Qatar and Emirates as well using miles so they do come in handy.

Oh and in answer to your question Virgin sometimes have points sales where they bump up the percentage of air miles bought.

No plans to fly before 2022. They'll probably have all expired by then.

How come? Are you near death? Want to leave them to me in your will?

I've got a monster amount with Oman Air. Doubt if I'll ever get the chance to redeem them.

Re: Air Miles
I spend an unhealthy portion of my life bothering with such things. Every penny I spend I make sure I'm squeezing something out of it - lots of wankers like me refer to it as a hobby.

What's the video?
