Jockey Richard Johnson retires
|
...(all jokes with Soldo aside), the top jockey calls it a day
i certainly remember him on Rooster Booster
(although he is the only jockey in history to lose 21 Grand Nationals !) .

Johnson & native River... match made in heaven...
Watched the Irish National a couple of days ago... loved teh story of the owner of the winner... backed it originally at 50's... then at 66's... 100/1... 125/1 and then when it went to 150/1 she thought fuck it and bacled it at that price... the horse led from start to finish jumped like kauto star and travelled like Shergar... it was quite magnificent to see

Blimey, have just seen the result of that national!!!!!
Could never get a win out of Johnson so hated him, though obviously an excellent jockey and fucking unlucky that he had to ride for the majority of his career competing against the best there was.

Not worth starting a new thread.
Irish grand national at 5pm. Not a tip , just looking for a bit of possible ew value, opposites attract 33s. Extra places on offer. Needs to cut out errors today.
I see my 80/1 friend won again today. The yard has, brace yourself at 11/1, can't be arsed looking for heads up, but yard in a bit of form, so might go close.
Dickie Johnson could have been riding the Hobbs horse as a last hurrah.

Is there a lot of spin associated with the role of top jockey?

Right up there with the very best. Seemed very modest chap. Always felt you would get an honest effort from him, so strong in in a close finish.
That's quiet a few top retirements of late.
