WHO Poll
Q: 2022 Summer Transfer Window - How many 1st team players will we sign before August 6th
a. None as Sullivan will wait until the last week before he gets his scattergun out the cupboard
b. A couple of freebies paraded as superstars, usual hype to follow
c. I'm more optimistic as surely they know we need to strengthen, 3-4 with decent money spent.
d. Who gives a toss as we have a great squad already, I've already ordered the new replica kit, socks and all and can't wait to wear it at our first game, down the pub of course, I bleed claret & blue

Team for Everton.
At Burnley we were profligate in front of goal and had a few scares at the back but overall it was a great result and we looked good, playing some superb football in the process.

For Everton, it would make sense to say don't change a winning team. However, I fully expect Declan Rice to be available again for this one. Lanzini was superb on Monday night in that deeper midfield role alongside Soucek and it would seem very harsh to drop him. There's no way Moyes is going to leave Rice out if he is available, so the only way he can accommodate Lanzini is at the expense of Benrahma, who was also good at Burnley. Two things possibly count against Benrahma: one is quite simply that it still seems clear that Moyes doesn't trust him; the other is that he is observing Ramadan - with this game being early evening, he won't have the chance to take on food and drink during the game. Personally I would stick with Benrahma but I am not sure what Moyes will do.

If Ogbonna is fit I would bring him in for Diop, but I don't think he's going to be ready.

Coufal Dawson Diop Cresswell
Soucek Rice
Lingard Fornals Benrahma

Subs: Randolph, Fredericks, Johnson, Balbuena, Alves, Coventry, Bowen, Lanzini, Yarmolenko.

Totally right both players looked better for the rest. Antonio especially. Rice is a naturally fit footballer, lean as heck. If it was some one like Yarmolenko you'll be right to be worried.
He's also only missed 5 games Mex

Start Ogg and Rice, two of our best players when fit and sub them for Lanzini and Diop if things go wonky.

Not rocket science.

The training techniques they have now while injured this short break from playing won't affect Rice fitness hardly at all

Rice starts if fit, hopefully he is.

If Antonio and cresswell can both come back and play a full 90 then Rice definitely can.

I really don't understand your big concern over Rice. He has been out for some weeks, not a year. His relatively short brake shouldn't have had a negative impact on his match fitness.

Lanzini however should always be the first answer if Rice or Soucek is out rather than using Noble.

Oh well we will see what Moyes goes for.
It worries me a little bringing
in a Rice with little match fitness and perhaps not 100%. It’s turning into a massive game and we will need everyone at 100%. Still the training will tell Moyes what he needs to know.

I don’t think it’s the same as Antonio. Moyes usually brings him straight in. If he is not up to it it’s no big deal and he can be subbed as he often is when coming back. A mistake or tiring performance at the front is probably not as critical as that happening in front of the defense.

Mex I understand your logic o think of fit enough for bench he starts. If we had a few more games to go then I’d agree. I don’t care what condition he arrives at England in.

Re: Team for Everton.
Mex - that's a reasonable way of looking at it, but I'm not sure it's Moyes' way of looking at it, especially with a key player like Rice. If he's fit he plays, like Antonio last week.

Re: Team for Everton.
I said I’d put Rice on the bench.
Rice hasn’t played in over a month, missed the last 6 games. Lost match fitness, I think it might be too much for him to go straight back in. I think he might go to the bench and be eased in more gradually. Maybe, I’m wrong, but I don’t understand the black and white morons making out thats the opinion of an idiot. It just a different and quite reasonable opinion. Would be great if Moyes decides he is fit enough to start, but I don’t see it.

Or maybe most people understand he's still not going to be fit? You'd be the type to take the likes of Beckham to a world cup with a broken foot''

Not the brightest are you. The debate is should Rice start IF is is fit? It's really not difficult to understand, you dimwit.

Re: Team for Everton.
If Rice and Oggy are back they come straight back in for me. Lanzini was excellent on Monday but against a team with Everton quality I’d put rice straight back in and Oggy for either centre half Diop was dreadful on Monday and although Dawson played well he’s been poor for quite a while before that game and he’s much more suited for playing against the likes of Wood where he can have a straightforward battle.
Just hoping he keeps Benrahma in I’d be quite disappointed into see him left out after his performance Monday.

Re: Team for Everton.
I feel that Rice was close to being fit but with both Cresswell and Antonio back in the team he gave him the extra week to get back to 100%. He's been "on the grass" for 3 weeks now. He's a fit lad with lots of natural energy hardly ever looks totally knackered.
With Dacoure back for they are definitely a better all round team.

Our form is W5 D1 L4 (16pts ) Everton's W4 D3 L3 (15pts ) over the last 10
Since Doucore has been away W1 D3 L3 (6pts)
Ours W3 D1 L3 (10pts )
Ours without Rice W3 L2

Looking at that Docoure is a much bigger miss for Everton.
He's missed 7 games and a international break. Rice 5 which was roughly what was thought at the time.
Both could be fresher for and recharged for this game.
We will need Rice against Doucoure and visa versa.

As Daveyg says Everton will probably try to stifle us in midfield and stop us playing. They are very good at that as their away record shows.

Rice’s strength will be needed even though Lanzini was arguably our best player last game but a different team that will be compact whereas Burnley gave us more space than I thought we would get surprisingly.

Oggy back in for Diop? U would think so but Oggy is just over an injury so I think Diop will start. Good in the air but a bit “Bambi on ice” on the deck at times. They have Calvert Llewelyn who is great in the air so maybe Diop can match him aerially but then again it assumes he has not got caught out of position in the first place

Re: Team for Everton.
Literally no one suggested that. Rice is most likely out for the game thus why many have Lanzini in their teams
