Sorry to break it to you but The Likely Youth have no interest in this

Personally I thought it was very good from a golden era
Much preferred it to the current tosh and the likes of the over rated Only Fools & Horses etc

No, that’s a criminal spoiler. Think of the youth, who didn’t have a clue.

Used to love this. Terry leading Bob astray at every opportunity to Thelma's annoyance.

zico the episode where they were trying to avoid the England score with Brian Glover winding them up all day sticks in the memory. Ironically the game was called off!

Them trying to avoid seeing the football results was a good one. Truly relatable.

I loved it, must be some episodes on youtube. How spoilt were people in the 70s in terms of comedies though, must have been a good 5 or 6 that are classics. We have Mrs Browns boys.

Re: Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads
It was a bit shit, but it captured 70's England very well.

Re: Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads
Not as good as the original series, the Likely Lads in the mid 60s but a good effort none the less.

The first of the new series when terry is returning from a stint in the army, on the train back to Geordieshire.

Bob happens to be on the same train, the lights go out and they start talking unwittingly. Bob starts talking about his mate terry and it all kicks off.

Terry was a bit of a loafer, a chancer, Thelma never trusted him and he reminds me of an old mate of mine who died recently who was Terry to a T.

Re: Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads
Some good footage of 70's Newcastle/North East in the film but most of the TV series was filmed in London

Pretty much of its time, doesn't really get a repeat these days does it?

The avoiding the England result episode is excellent. Classic. And yes, kids today probably can’t imagine such a scenario.

Re: Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads
I think they got on fine during the TV run, but after the film they fell out over something or other to do with promoting the film. That's what I read, anyway.
Brilliant series, though, and still as funny today. The two wedding episodes - the night before and the wedding day - are probably my favourites, but it's hard to choose.

Re: Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads
Didn't get on at all did they? I might be wrong but I heard Bolan refused to allow repeats or something which stopped Bewes from gaining repeats fees?

I remember the one where they were trying to avoid the England result. Bloody impossible these days!
