In 1972, aged 15 me and a mate were on a bus going to see Vinegar Joe (the band with Elkie Brooks and Robert Palmer). On the bus we heard of a Valentine's Day disco that was on our route,. There would be, we were assured, lots of girls.

We got off the bus. I met a girl, eventually married her and had two daughters with her.

So missing Elkie Brooks changed my life.

But I preferred Robert Palmer as a singer.

Darlo I just Googled Pearl.

Apparently she used to be a winner but now she spends a lot of time at 'beer stained tables' in nightclubs.

To be honest she sounds perfect for West Ham.

Very much doubt it, but she can sing Pearls' A Singer for a bit of half time entertainment. Perfect for many on here as Oearl plays songs for the lost and the lonely.

We'll never know Garth. Len should commission a national survey on how many people have heard of her. If he is ever is in a "brewster's millions" type situation that can be his first purchase.

Young bloke started at work of late told me he was into his gospel music and simaler. I said to him I like Johnny Cash and lot of his early work was religious and that it always run through his work he stated he never heared of him.

Never again will I have a conversation with youngster over music.

I've heard of Mozart but he died well before I was born.

I'm not saying Elkie Brooks is another Mozart but she has a good body of work that still survives to this day

PS Len, I hate to tell you this mate but if her heyday was in the early 70s as referred to on this thread then you'd need to be about 60 to have a more than evens chance of having heard of her. Is your friend in the pub a lot younger than you?
