Same height as Lionel Messi, so I wouldn't write him off just yet.

I was at the Orient game and Ekwah didn’t overly impress me. He’s a big lad but didn’t use his physicality preferring to win the ball by nicking interceptions rather than tackling. He was neat and tidy most of the time but the majority of his involvement was receiving the ball and giving it back to the player who gave it him in the first place. Most of his passing was sideways and backwards up to about 15 yards and when he attempted something more ambitious than the more often than that gave the ball away.

Watching the highlights of the Northampton game and whoever lists Appiah-Forson as 5'7" or 1.74m is telling a porkie or two.
Lanzini is listed as 1.67m and he is a decent bit taller.

Yeah, I thought the same after the Dundee game. Looks like he has something about him.

Watched the Orient game. One player that impressed me was Ekwah. Seemed to be an accomplished midfielder - was always available and a good first touch. Seemed like the senior players were quite happy to play the ball into him even though he had opposition players around him. One to watch I think.

Cheers
People talking a bit about Alves in the blogs this morning. He looked to have some decent size when I saw him the last game but nothing else stood out.

I didn't see anything to get too excited about, ioc.
I think Coventry has to have his chance now though, otherwise what's the point in keeping him? He has to be higher than Noble (who has so far struggled to make his mark in both preseasons games) in the pecking order.

Anybody who watched either game - unfortunately busy myself - see anything decent from any of the kids that got time for us?

As Moyes said the point of two friendlies is that it gives a lot of players the chance to get 90 mins which is what is important at this stage. Obviously neither of these teams will ever appear together again so I wouldnt even bother keeping score .... which was easy at Orient. I saw on LiveScore that Arsenal were the only other Premier league team to play .... they lost 2-1 to Hibs.
This Appiah-Forson is 19 and got a couple of good write ups towards the end of last season remarking that KANTE is the player he most resembles .... from a considerable distance at the moment obvs.
We still need several players though ..
Lingard as Anderson's replacement A striker to replace Haller Another midfielder to cover for / support Rice & Soucek A centre half to replace Balbuena A left back .... an out and out left back

torino hammer,
If you live nearby, what stopped you going then? I know a few West Ham fans who live near Northampton that went.

Thank you Dandy. I don't know how tall Appiah-Forson is, but he must be the smallest West Ham player I've ever seen.

Any idea who our no.8 at Northampton was? He looked about 5 ft tall.
Our need for a new striker or two could not be more evident considering the poor quality of our pre-season opposition so far.
