Frederik Alves - Is he going to step up
I liked the look of this lad when we signed him, but not managed to see him play recently. Heard good things from a few supporters, just wondered if anyone here had seen a lot of him and whether he looked like he might be good enough for the squad?

We've signed a lot of these 'promising' youngish players over the years, very rarely do they seem to make it.

''Centre halves dont really develop til they are 25''

When you look at CB's PLYING their trade in the PL it's true there aren't that many in their low 20's, so there may be some truth in that, although I'd say they need to be really developing at 23 instead of 25.

With Alves, I reckon it's a long shot that he will step up to become top class.

Cardoso is just 20
I looked up his stats for the loan at Basel, played 5 league games, 2 yellows and 1 cup game in which he scored a goal.
Not very spectacular.

Centre halves dont really develop til they are 25
Which is why you wouldnt expect more than a handful of games from 21yo Alves .... and why I'd rather keep the 24yo Diop.
With Dawson & Ogbonna getting on we still need a long term player in that position ie to show the ambition Leicester did in buying someone like Fofana who will be a 10 year player for them.
Unless they sell him to a bigger club for a massive profit as they did with Maguire.

Yeah, just like Goncalo Cardoso stepped up...

If we are serious about selling Diop for the right money then we should have kept Balbuena for at least another year! Too light on experience in that dept if Alves needs more time

Re: Frederik Alves - Is he going to step up
I used to play centre back so for me they are the most important players on the pitch. Seriously though, lots of rumours about Diop at the moment, we are already light on numbers in that dept, I am wondering if they see this lad as someone who can step up. Been looking about, not a huge amount on his performances but anything I have found is very positive.

Fringe CBs are proper boring though aint they?

I think Moyes has earned a bit of trust in the transfer market.

Then I thought I'd stop coating the idiot Southgate off because he'd done ok, then he reverted back o idiot Southgate.

Perhaps I'd better keep on top of the idiot Moyes after all. The scotch CUNT.

Slightly ironic you telling someone to let the manager worry about it, not like you are shy with your opinions, on pretty much everything our managers have ever done.

swt

Who fucking cares? I'd probably just let Moyes worry about it.

I'm expecting a decent CB to be brought in regardless.

Can't claim to have seen him play but, the first thing I noticed is he is a dead ringer for Haller!
