E-mail from the organisers confirming that the Antipodeans are scared - they're now discussing what to do with stakeholders and will get back to us ASAP.

Surely without them England must be favourites? I say play.

Re: Challenge Cup. Castelford v St Helens
ARLC chairman Peter V’landys AM reiterated his New Zealand counterpart’s concerns and issued a renewed appeal for the tournament to be rescheduled for next year.

“In the current environment, the risks to the safety, health and well-being of the players and officials travelling from Australia to participate in the tournament this year are insurmountable,” he said.

“The majority of NRL players are currently living away from home under difficult biosecurity protocols. They would then be required to remain under protocols and away from home for the duration of the tournament before again quarantining on return to Australia. This is too much to ask our players and officials to do.

“We have again requested the IRL and Rugby League World Cup consider postponing the event until 2022 to enable all players to participate.”

So perfectly OK for the Lions to be in their biosecurity bubble in SA but not the big butch boys from RL in the UK... fucking hell.... heard it all now... Oh and do they think Covid will just vanish in 2022?? Idiots... just stay lockdown forever

Would you have a link for that Drico pod interview please ? Haven’t heard it. He lives down the road from me. Seems to have nailed retirement pretty well. Nice earners with corporates and bit of punditry.

Remember seeing and interview with Drico about this and his was asked about this hit on 6ft 6" 19 stone Roussouw. Said he couldn't believe how hard the impact was.

"He was having too much an impact on the test so I knew I had to stop him"

Yep love that clip.

Honourable mention to the legend Joost, one of the greatest 9's to ever play the game. RIP

Plenty of small backs around now... Faf, Marcus Smith... Shane Williams not so long ago.. remember in the 90's people saying neil Back was too small as he was flanker at 5 foot 9... if you are good enough then does not matter what size you are... greatest centre for me O'Driscoll... 5 foot 10 14 stone... could go past anyone... and could bring anyone down... if you are good enough

N.S.

Gibbs vs Tuigamala - 20 meter run up, who gets up first ?

p.s. Brian Lima on standby as sub.

Re: Challenge Cup. Castelford v St Helens
That was the start of backs being bulkier professionalism would have the catalyst for that. The backs in the 70s and 80s would be no match

Re: Challenge Cup. Castelford v St Helens
Funnily enough I was watching the 97 2nd test last night on Sky Sports... great to watch it all the way through... still laugh at Gibbs running over the hard man of SA Rugby Os du rant (aka the Ox)... looked like he had gone 10 rounds with Ali when he got up... Gibbs tackling in that game was obscene I thik he clocked up more yards tackling Boks backwards than some of teh Lions players actually had yards going forwards... Guscott called him the quickest prop he ever played with (even though he was a centre!!) one of the all time greats

Re: Challenge Cup. Castelford v St Helens
Gibbs was a monster for his day. I liked Johnathon Davies a great runner

Re: Challenge Cup. Castelford v St Helens
67... that was the first professional Lions tour in Union... all those players (Gibbs, Tait, Bateman and Bentley IIRC) all came back to play RU after the game went pro... says it all really... oh and Gibbs was an absolute monster on that tour... but to be fair he alreay was even before he went pro in League... one of my fav players of all time
