British and Irish Lions v South Africa - The Tests Thread
I dislike South Africa enormously - am very much hoping for a Lions victory.

Head says it’s unlikely though.

Amazing recovery from AWJ to play in this

I couldn't give a shit about the Lions, I support the England team. I just find it funny that you still feel the need to bait & wind up your fellow west ham fans because of some deep seated hatred of the English. I could understand it if you supported any other rugby team, but as I've said before you (YOU) don't deserve the all blacks

I will leave it to Jonah to OPINE on the various methods of play but the S Africans are World Champions playing their style.
You cant argue with someone playing how they think will bring them success.
S Africans are dour in all sports so am sure they love it.

Whether the game is encouraging that style and whether people think that isnt good for the sport is another matter.
As a non rugby person I'd make try's worth 10 points and any kick between the posts 1 point.
And increase the size of the pitch to run the fat fuckers around and create more space for skilful players.
Believe the standard pitch is 100m by 70m. TINY

All I can say is that hopefully in 12 years time when the next Lions tour comes round to SA I'll be fucking dead... be less painful than watching them play their brand of WINNING football... absolute zero attacking ... their try was from a lucky bounce... absolute zilch from them apart from win a penalty from their scrum and kick 3 points.... good job no crowds as half of them would have blown their teeth out with a shooter... anyway roll on 4 years time

Re: British and Irish Lions v South Africa - The Tests Thread
Can I ask Jonah or Sven whether The Lions have played the spoiling defensive rugby because either NZ or Aus have played skillfull expansive rugby they can’t match, and the bitch here is that South Africa play it regardless of this factor they just play this way?

Surely this is damaging the sport of rugby as a spectacle?

Sven Roeder 1:54 Sun Aug 8
Re: British and Irish Lions v South Africa - The Tests Thread
The equivalent is surely England (or Wales or Scotland or Ireland) playing NZ / Aust / S Africa?
Think they'd get round the gelling problem by picking the All Blacks team

Or refusing the whole thing as they'd think it weird to be in some combined side with people who DESPISE you as England are with the Scots, Welsh & Irish.

I would like to see a B&I Lions team coached by a British and Irish coaching team play 3 tests vs a Southern Hem Lions made up of Saffas, Kiwis and Aussies.

It would be interesting to see if the Southern Hem could get over the significant hurdle of gelling and putting national rivalries behind them.

Re: British and Irish Lions v South Africa - The Tests Thread
The coaches for top level international countries should have the same qualification requirements as the players.
Nonsense that England have an Australian coach and this made up hybrid team cant find a coach from ANY of them.
Especially when it means they pick such a turgid bore as the Kiwi Gatland.

Re: British and Irish Lions v South Africa - The Tests Thread
It’s an embarrassment that between the four nations, we can’t select a coach of our own. No more Garland, please. Lancaster’s been doing a fine job in Ireland, for example.

I decided not to watch as soon as Gatland was reappointed.

The most dour coach on the planet.

I said before a crap game that all seems to be down to penalties/lack of discipline. Should make them 2 pts maybe to encourage more open play.

Let's not forget, the SILVER fern beats the red rose 9 times out of 10.

But, we're not here to talk about that.

So, about these whinging and moaning posts about the dour nature of the Saffa rugby.....any comments on the irony of them, considering your history of defending this style of play previously?

Re: British and Irish Lions v South Africa - The Tests Thread
when the only reason the Lions didn't lose 0-3 in NZ was because of shithouse French refs.

Ha ha ha ha.... do you mutter 'accidental offside' in your sleep you gutless curtain twitching cunt...

Stick to not mixing with the outside world for the next 5 years you bunch of yellow bellied cowards... remember once upon a time when a kiwi had some balls... must of left them all at monte casino... white feather in the post to go with your legendary white fern

Excellent. I'm glad you've got SOMETHING out of the rugby today.

Obviously it's not a win or a good performance, but it's SOMETHING at least.
