FA Cup
Well the greatest cup competition in the world starts on Saturday, with the extra preliminary round. My son and I have picked a team, Knaresborough Town in North Yorkshire, and are going to watch them play Northallerton Town. We will then watch who ever wins in the next round and so on. I don't expect we will be able to get tickets for the semi-final or final but really looking forward to it! Proper grass roots football, cheap beer and fuck knows after the next round, where and who we will end up watching. A friend did it a number of years ago and really enjoyed doing it, I don't know if anybody on here has had a go??

Hard luck one iron

I saw at Albans earlier this season v the Angels - they didn't look all that before the game was abandoned due a nasty injury. Not a patch on where they were last season in the NLS.

I watched the Angels to out to Hayes and yeading in the second round. We got stuffed 5=0. H&Y played some super stuff - and given they have just dumped Dorking out last night now face Sutton in the first round proper.

Wouldn't be the worst bet in the round...........

I really hope the casuals turn St Albans over and cop the prize money.
£16.50 admittance price for a conference south club is a blatant rip off and I think they have gone cashless too.
I went there a couple of seasons back and got locked in the park after trying to get out the way we entered.

Tonight i am going to stalbans vs corinthian casuals, this game massive for c.c. its a 4th q round, we should have won first time out it was 1-1,stalbans scored with 20 seconds to go, we start tonight underdogs, might be worth a punt.

Did you bump into the Wealdstone Raider ?

Gary Strodders shank 12:15 Mon Oct 18
Re: FA Cup
I was at Wealdstone v Dagenham yesterday.

Daggers lost there star striker Mcallum with a straight red for a two footed tackle very early on and stones scored soon after and looked be in control.

They had chances to put the game to bed but failed to convert them and come the last 15 the Daggers extra fitness begun to become a factor with them first missing a penalty and then scoring two late goals to earn a home tie against Salford.

Re: FA Cup
Well it had to happen, a rather dull 0 - 0 at Marske Town V Gateshead. Very few chances, the professionals of Gateshead had a decent one in the first half but Marske grew into the game and should have finished it late into the second half. Marske and more direct which does cause Gateshead a few problems. Nice little ground, which was sold out mid-week. More interesting was going to Saltburn on the North East coast for lunch, which is just a couple of miles from Marske. Decent place doesn't have the rundown feel you can get in some coastal resorts, loads of surfers there and you can pick up a terraced house for £80,000 or a semi -detached four bedroom for about £180,000!!

Replay at Gateshead on Tuesday, who should win but Marske put out Chester in a mid-week replay 4 nil away from home so not a foregone conclusion. Winners are at home to Altrincham in three weeks time, pity it wasn't the other way around as I quite fancied a piss up there!

Thanks Coffee, really enjoy going to the games and the draw on a Monday as you don't know where the fuck you will end up! Probably end up watching Millwall as they always seem to give it a good go which would seem strange!

Re: FA Cup
Continue with the 4th qualifying round FA cup run on Saturday, going to watch Marske Utd v Gateshead, who we watched in the previous round narrowly defeating Runcorn Linnets. First time it's been a sell out so glad we pre-booked. Marske defeated Chester of the National League South, 4 nil (I think), so no mugs as Chester were two leagues above, as are Gateshead. Maybe a bit of local rivalry and if Marske can be direct they should cause Gateshead a few problems. Forget the Bar codes jumping into bed with the Saudis, this is proper football and very enjoyable!

Re: FA Cup
Runcorn were narrowly defeated at home to Gateshead 2- 3. It should have been much easier for Gateshead who are full-time professional and two leagues higher, particularly with scoring early but Runcorn hung in there, went more direct which Gateshead found difficult to deal with. At the break Gateshead player manager Mike Williamson brought himself on to shore up the defence. Williamson played 150 games for Newcastle in the Prem and was infamously accused of getting himself sent off by caretaker Newcastle manager (John Carver?), vaguely remember it. He did tighten it up. Apparently he was moaning about the hostile atmosphere, which there wasn't and bricks being thrown. A few local lads may have thrown some stones at the bus on the way out but a handful of Gateshead supporters were giving it big ones in the Runcorn clubhouse, so if they were doing it on the way out after the match, the locals wouldn't be best pleased after narrowly being dumped out of the cup. Await the draw this morning, hopefully Gateshead will be away, don't really fancy going up there. Think their pitch has a running track around it, so I should sort of feel at home there!

I went to Dulwich v Bedfont a couple of weeks ago for an FA Cup qualifying round. Bedfont, who are two divisions below Dulwich, fully earned their 2-0 win.

Go on the Bedfont!
