Almost sixty years this month.
Most got 30 years which even for the time seemed to be too severe, yes, Jack Mills the train driver got coshed but Bruce Reynolds insisted that it shouldn't have happened.
What are your recollections of the event?

My dad nearly had a fight with Phil Collins. He accidentally wondered onto one of Phil’s music videos in a street and they squared up. Also dad going round Vidal Sassoon’s first hairdressers in stepney with my uncles as he owed one of them money for sweeping up hair.
He never tells me this first hand. It’s always from someone else but when I pull him up he just shrugs and says yeah.
When my mum n dad had there 50th he said even the great train robbers never got that much.

Don't believe the hype Kenneth Noye is an old bullying cunt. Rude. I'm aware Noye is Brinx m and not accapulco but still massive one.

Phil Collins is a Spurs fan so has been acting the CUNT all his life Why should THAT change?
Wasnt Buster Whatsit the one who had a flower stall outside Waterloo station? Must have been nice for all the rail staff who walked past every day wondering if they were going to get COSHED.

Collins would have got a bit more respect had he not attempted to shoehorn an awful soundtrack into the movie

Oh come on, Phil Collins is playing Buster Edwards a career criminal ,he's not Laurence Olivier playing Henry V
Not bad acting for his first time at a leading role

Ronnie biggs was portrayed as a bit of a master criminal because he managed to escape to Brazil but he was only involved with it in the first place because he knew someone who could drive a train!

Mr Kenzo 2:04 Thu Aug 5 Re: The Great Train Robbery Phil Collins being a woeful actor in Buster
Terrible terrible acting actually made Buster seem a proper miserable snappy drunk cunt the whole film. Bad acting, bad writing.

I am loosely related to Thomas Wisbey one of the train robbers. His daughter Marilyn took me on summer holidays as a child for many years. Also new Buster very well with my family also having a flower stall just over the bridge from his.
But in all fairness, an innocent man died and they all got caught. In my opinion it was far from a great robbery.

Bruce Reynolds is buried in Highgate cemetery and his son who's an artist made a death mask of his dad for his headstone.
It's really, really great to the point where he's been commissioned to do more in the West cemetery including Malcolm McLaren's.
As a morbid fucker I do love a death mask.
