Mother nature just can't resist the occasional bit of Giai if populations cant control themselves.

If AIDS don't work, and Covid is too slow, bring out the geological action and rub out a few densely populated costal areas in one easy strike.

Will piss off shit-loads of those looking to get Joe Public to fund climate change control if it happens - no time to raise taxes...

If it does go, the UK would be hit by waves of up 60 FEET.

Re: La Palma Volcano erupting
Saw a documentary on this some years back and the upshot was that a British expert said it was inevitable
There is a quite visible fault line across the island that is widening
Nothing can stop it. The problem is that rain water is flowing down, and at some point when active it will boil, expand and Bob’s your uncle, splosh
The resultant waves were described as catastrophic, but interesting that alternative opinion suggests otherwise
One thing for sure, it will happen and not to far in the future either

“Isn't the tsunami danger from La Palma quite high?”

Yes, I’m watching this here! If the western side of la Palma slips into the Atlantic has been documented may one day happen, the entire eastern US seaboard could be wiped out.

Like everything these days it depends on who you believe!

"Steven N. Ward and Simon Day in a 2001 research article proposed that a Holocene change in the eruptive activity of Cumbre Vieja volcano and a fracture on the volcano that formed during an eruption in 1949 may be the prelude to a giant collapse. They estimated that such a collapse could cause tsunamis across the entire North Atlantic and severely impact countries as far away as North America. Later research has debated whether the tsunami would still have a significant size far away from La Palma, as the tsunami wave may quickly decay in height away from the source and interactions with the continental shelves could further reduce its size. Evidence indicates that most collapses in the Canary Islands took place as multistage events that are not as effective at creating tsunamis, and a multi-stage collapse at La Palma likewise would result in smaller tsunamis."

Mate of mine is supposed to be flying out there tomorrow morning. Have they cancelled any flights?

Supposed to be a realistic chance of half the island sliding into the sea if anything shakes it up.

Perhaps Mark Noble's penalty miss is a sign of the end times...

*looks out of the window. No sign of levitating Christian fundamentalists. Phew*
