Attendance Vs Rapid Vienna - Not looking too full
|
The club are clearly a bit concerned. It's very rare to see the OS lead with "Don't miss our Europa League Opener"
When you go onto the ticket page there are swathes of seats unsold right around the upper tier and clearly some areas not even on sale.
At a guess I would say 30-35K sold so far, a few more will go between now and Thursday but it looks very much like way below a full a house. That must be a disappointment for all concerned.
Too many unsold tickets @£50 or more, this time they haven't quite got the pricing right.
I'm guessing 42,500 on the night but hope I'm wrong.

Stepney. Yeh, lively, vocal, witty and a good mixture. Seems to be all little teams all settling in their regular spots in the rows and the party deck, but still all together if need be. Just how it should be. Was good to see! (And in the other bits mentioned as well).

"All this crowd trouble seems really overblown."
Not as if the Splitter Six need the press to remind the world who are the entitled, and who are the upstarts here, is it?

All this crowd trouble seems really overblown.
I sit basically facing it, and didn't even notice their supporters trying to 'storm' ours. Just saw some bottles being luzzed.

Twice as many people at the LS than at White Hart Lane last night.

Agree. Felt quite old skull last night. Even a bit edgy at times.

True, but was even more lively than normal.
I'm also liking the look of the bit next to away fans in the TBL, seems to be a good mob gathering over there.

Thought it was a good atmosphere last night. Block 113 where we were was lively.

Yeah, not the brightest scheduling from UEFA having us and them playing at home at the same time. It was pretty civil, at H&I though.

Was a decent atmosphere last night and Hackney Wick is a good route in given the pubs and food around the station. Nearly kicked off briefly where we were in the lower tier between the wannabe standers and sitters which all adds to the fun.
As did going from Hackney Wick afterwards to get the tube at Highbury and Islington and loads of West Ham walking bang on to a packed tube full of Spurs heading south. It was all a bit civilised which was very strange considering.

If we carry on winning all games will sell out including Genk and Zagreb. I guess the real interest will come when we reach the knockout stages and the CL teams start to appear in the competition.

The atmosphere, volume etc were much better than I'd expected and the overall attendance.
I sat right at the back of Trevor Brooking stand behind the goal. It did remind me what an absolutely shite athletics stadium it is. Despite that there was actually some singing up there... not that anyone else would have been able to be
When I had my ST at back of top tier over half way line in the first season we were at the stadium it was silent all match, every match.
I definitely won't be moving seats up there regularly though. Lower tier is still not great in comparison to an actual football ground but it's light years ahead of the upper tier of STB stand.

Different atmosphere last night, I think due to people booking seats where they wanted with mates, I liked it, Hackney wick was mobbed with people drinking and the rib man sold out in 2 hours! Long may it continue, liked the away support aswell great banter between the two😂

50k is a very good turnout.
It would’ve comfortably sold out had it been priced correctly.

The seats that were showing as unsold and disappeared from sale en masse yesterday afternoon were still empty last night. Those at the top of Trevor brooking stand most noticeably so I think they pulled them from sale to make it look more in demand. It was full enough to generate a good atmosphere though.
As someone else said, a lot of season ticket holders were absent. Personally, I don't think that is a bad thing for a night like last night. The crowd is younger (than me at least) and more lively. The season ticket holders who live miles away and come to games more to socialise than watch and enjoy the game don't add much to the atmosphere. You know the ones, sneaking off about 15 minutes early because they would rather be in the pub than in the stadium. Anyway. I'm bound to attract some abuse with that comment.
