West Ham want to sign red-hot Manchester City teenager compared to David Silva

Olly Dawes

West Ham United have been tracking Manchester City teenager James McAtee ahead of making a future move for the youngster.

That’s according to The Athletic, who claim that Brighton and Hove Albion have had an £8million bid rejected for McAtee.

City have no plans to let McAtee leave any time soon, and have made it clear that he can’t leave for any price.

Brighton believe McAtee could have been tempted into making the move, but the Seagulls – as well as Crystal Palace and West Ham – have been fended off.

McAtee is though out of contract in 2023, meaning City will need to get him tied down to a new deal soon – or risk losing him in just over 18 months

Who is West Ham target James McAtee?

McAtee was born in Salford and actually started his career with Manchester United.

Yet when his brother was released by the Red Devils, McAtee moved across the city to the Etihad Stadium.

The 18-year-old has been compared to David Silva with City believing they have a star playmaker on their hands.

McAtee has been unbelievable this season, smashing 10 goals and two assists in just seven Premier League games.

Pep Guardiola gave McAtee his senior debut in the EFL Cup last month, and a Premier League debut may not be a million miles away.

West Ham would be wise to keep tabs on McAtee’s contract situation at City, as they may stand more of a chance to sign him as he nears the end of his deal.
