I had a wisdom tooth extracted a few weeks ago (a complicated bit of surgery including drilling out some of the jaw bone) and had to avoid chewing on that side for more than a week. Ended up distorting my mouth and biting my gum hard twice. I wasn't in the best of moods I can tell you.

It's usually the sides of my tongue with me, bloody painful. Two days ago at breakfast, however, I bit into my.lower lip. It healed up quickly but was a bit swollen. Sure enough, this morning...

I had a similar spell a couple of years back, it seems that my jaw got a bit wider in some kind of growth spurt. Fortunately my fave seems to have stretched to fit it
Sometimes you feel/hear your teeth chomping through the flesh !
