Christmas Stories and Traditions
What with the lurgy showing its ugly face, time for some Christmas positives.
What traditions do you follow and are any considered odd?

Here in France, Christmas Eve is big deal (I think it is for many europeans) and fish is a big favourite.

I'm still a turkey and the trimmings man around 4pm having sunk a few bucks fizz and whiskey chasers....

Does anyone do this bad elf thing, have done it for our little one for past couple of years? Never did this when we were young. Very American isn't it.

I was a bad elf last year when I wiped my toddler's arse with a bleach kitchen wipe instead of baby wet wipes.. that ruined Christmas day lol

We do also have a 7ft tall inflatable but furry Xmas giraffe. Was bought for his first brihday and stays up until after Xmas with a bit of tinsel thrown around his neck.

Who is doing football boxing day.

Come on people, whats ur Xmas looking like

These are the wonderful stories I wanted to read. Some of you are really 'nice' (but Geoff Hurst isn't 🤣)

Following on from nurse keeping up the pretence , one year when my lad was about six , there was a colouring in competition in the local paper, the prize was two West Ham tickets against Blackburn l think , anyway he coloured it in and sent it off and never heard anything , so l got two tickets and got his Nan as the person from the paper to phone up and say he’d done really well with the colouring in but had to answer a tie break question, “ who is the West Ham manager ? “ Harry redknapp we whispered to him , “ congratulations said the newspaper lady , “ you’ve won “ next day the tickets arrived in a stamped envelope with his name on , to this day l swear he doesn’t know we set him up !

Re: Christmas Stories and Traditions
My story is very similar to the good nurse except that when the kids got to about 8 & 11 they approached Mrs oi and asked if she could tell me that they've known for some years that Santa doesn't exist & could they stop pretending. After long discussion they decided to leave it because they didn't want to upset me with such a harsh truth. I've still not actually admitted that he doesn't exist. They're in their 30s.

Didn’t go much on Christmas as a kid as we were quite poor.

One year I got a button for Christmas and was told to go round Nan's and get her to sew a jumper on it.

Lots of lights + rocketing energy costs = houseful of morons.

Next stop; a food bank near you.

But it was worth it for the kids...

Yeah, I like seeing houses with lots of lights, but I can't help thinking behind those closed doors the people inside are fucking miserable
