It's amusing watching certain mincey posters having the need to 'own' a subject......they've done all the booze related ones on here and try to make themselves an expert on other subjects that makes them come across as 'one of the lads'......they try ever so hard.......but fail.... :-)

It's a shame that the most important part of the German Reinheitsgebot is continually flouted: beer should not cost more than (roughly) a penny a litre, except for special seasonal brews, where tuppence a litre is allowed.

All true except Lambics also ferment with bacteria turning the beers sour.
Re Lagers. The process produces much less fruity ( estery) flavours that lots of real ale drinkers love. Reason I ask is that many modern pale ales are as clean as lager but often have much more hops. Tgstswhy its easy to think some pales are lagers. Even summer ales were made as an ale alternative to lager.
One final thing is ales should be cheaper to make because if less storage time ( assuming the grain bill is similar, and not too much extra hop inclusion).

In Brussels I tried the Lambic beers. Not to everyones' taste but I like them in small doses. They use the natural yeasts in the air to ferment the beer.

Lagers use a yeast that can be active at lower temperatures. They take longer and its called bottom fermentation. Gives a clean less flavoured product.
Ales use yeast that needs higher temperatures to ferment or top fermentation. Quicker but less clean but more flavoured.

Look up Amsterdam exterminatior in France. Its 14 per cent. Lager. I don't drink it myself lol. I prefer wine and spirits. But it's a easy to drink beer and veyr beer strong

I get that, and by the same token, I can't stand flavoured coffee and cheese. If I want cheese, I want cheese flavour, and coffee flavoured coffee please. Not fucking cookie dough or salted caramel.

Lager wise, San Miguel, Stella, Moretti, Amstel if I'm out, Jupiler is nice when you can get it, someone mentioned Augustiner earlier, that'd be number 1 but very few places serve it, you can buy a case from Beerhawk though. I'll drink anything except Fosters, Becks and Bud.
Love an ale on a Sunday, Timmy Taylor, Doombar, Marstons, any of them really.
Cannot stand craft beer, or fruity beer, Brew Dog and all that filth, not for me, about as refreshing as a mouthful of sand.
