We lost 2-3 to Leeds at our place
Given how many Leeds have let in in recent matches, we lost 2-3 at home to them a few weeks back. Says it all..

Agree with Side, it's far easier to be a grinning happy clapper from afar, with an easier ability to switch off, as you are not inside the 'culture' of it all and have nothing outside your front door to resonate with, or connect to said culture. It's all/only just on a computer and a tele.

Never said it was unique, in fact you could say most grounds are buzzing before the game starts, few beers, bets on etc, etc.....I'll be honest Sydney and say because of where you happen to be and that you have to pretty well hunt out English football on a daily basis it's far easier to have your outlook about it......

"as for being there on the day most go thinking there's a chance then see what turns up.....inevitably it goes flat over there......only at the start of the season is there any real optimism......"

hhahahaha, Hardly unique to West Ham though???? Go to any game in any league and if your team is winning it’s all happy clapping and smiles! Go a goal or 2 down and the boos, blame and finger pointing and pissed off looking faces are not far away…….That’s football!

Re: We lost 2-3 to Leeds at our place
Not sure being in Sydney is far easier in this internet age, if I was still in London, apart from actually being able to go to games what changes? banter and discussion of the game in the Pub, that’s only for some these days (and I miss that bit TBH) as its all online and social media so being in Sydney makes no difference, also from what I have seen and experienced at the LS on those occasions I have been in the UK, those rolling up each week do so thinking we will win!

I don’t know how we will finish this season; we may go out in both Cups and not win another game! But for now im going to be unfashionable and stay optimistic and not blame it all on not signing anyone in January etc

Players, Rice in particular may well leave, but im not sure our lack of activity in January will have anything to do with it, or how we finish, we could win both cups and finish 4th and he will still be off, who knows, unfortunately we are not a “massive” club compared to the elites, so success is only going to draw in those clubs to try and get our best players, and he may well want to experience life at one of the elites, who can blame him, if I was a young gifted player I would want to no matter how much I may have liked being at West Ham.

For me if you can’t be optimistic your teams chances and would rather focus on any negatives or 1 bad result, it’s all a bit pointless to be supporting the team in the first place, we could lose every game form here, be in danger of relegation next season (got enough experience!!!!) I would still be optimistic we wouldn’t, but if we did, as gutted as I would be I would then dust myself off and think we can bounce straight back.

Saying a 3-2 loss to Leeds "says it all" is just bizarre as in reality it means fuck all, we lost a game, didnt play at our best, they were better on the day etc, but each to their own and all that.

Sydney, what do you think we’ll achieved by the end of this season?……for me it will be finally (after decades of that in the main not being the case) we have a TEAM that can compete at the expected level for a London club with a big support……sadly due to our short comings AGAIN our best players will be encouraged to move on…..not a lot will have changed once we get a pretty decent team….

I get Yarmouth's point.

I mean did we play them at the wrong time before Bielsa burnt them out?

Yeah we missed out there.

What a fucking weird post.. We beat them a few days earlier in the cup. He formulated a game plan, it worked they beat us and deserved to..
