From CNBC:
LONDON — The consumer price index rose 10.1% in September, according to estimates published Wednesday by the Office for National Statistics, just exceeding a consensus forecast among economists polled by Reuters.
U.K. inflation rose in the year to September 2022 as the country’s cost-of-living crisis continues to hammer households and businesses ahead of a tough winter. Inflation unexpectedly dipped to 9.9% in August, down from 10.1% in July, on the back of a fuel price decline.
The inflation data will also impact the Bank of England’s approach for the near term, just as the Bank plans to sell off some of its government bonds, known as gilts, from Nov 1.

If this situation descends via chaos into a General strike (which I'm hearing is not beyond the realms of possibility) it will be 100% down to the government not listening (or giving a fuck about) what the people who voted them into power want, no matter how much spin is put on it.
Busted Flush does not even begin to describe the set of people charged with running and MANAGING the country's economy.
Even if a general election is called, I suspect that the only thing - whoever wins - to avert total anarchy will be to put ten bags of sand into every registered tax-payers personal bank account...just to buy a few weeks peace.

People won’t be able to afford recreational drug habits soon. Dunno what the stabbers will do for their money then.

New Jersey, the fact you are trying to find these 'working class' Labour types says it all.....it should be reeled off without a search. Instead the best a normal person within vast majority can hope for is to be a 'Union Leader'......not a lot has changed in our class system has it....in fact it's been a case of many doing well for themselves and very much leaving it behind......

Ray,you're confusing me with someone else.
I made no mention of SK nor did I suggest that he is to blame for people getting chopped up.
Now,do you really think the stabbers attempt to kill one another as a result of having sod all else to do?

That's because you need it to be that way comma for you to justify following the reds all these years.....fact is he's had a fucking nice little upbringing & education in a nice suburb in the south....the only thing you can give him is he's taken his opportunities well and well done to him for that.....but he in no way represents the majority.....

Ray.
Do you REALLY believe that knife crime is a result if these cunts having nothing better to do?
You make some valid points at times but the one above is complete and utter bollox.
Anyway, another couple of years and none of this will matter. CBDC's will be here and we'll all live under the fear of having our 'carbon credits' confiscated for not towing the line.

Starmer, born in Southwark raised in the “quaint” little village of Oxted. Mother a nurse father a toolmaker.
Sounds pretty working class to me.

New Jersey my point is they are people who are on a steep career path, Sir Kier went out of his way to get an Oxbridge connection.....they are the same dicks that spout they know how the majority see things....they fucking don't......

Side - I think my point is that they aren't from a background of top public school followed by Oxbridge. Then again, Truss went to a Leeds Comp but it was in an affluent area and was a decent school, although Truss tries to make out it was a shite school but it did help her get to Oxford and, as ever, she's not really detailed her 'problems' there.

Starmer is not from a solid working class background, he was brought up in a quaint little village in Surrey ffs......it was hardly an inner city struggle.....his parents were Labour supporters that's about it.....the rest is him taking his opportunities well in education......I don't think even a lot of our posters know what working class is as many of us haven't had that hardship.

I think we're a long way from Thatcher's you turn if you want to, this lady's not for turning, Truss isn't exactly Maggie.
Hunt will look at some USA type Health system but he should be looking at Germany/France who pay a bit more but have far better patient to Dr/Nurses ratios. Same with Theresa May when she was Home Secretary and cutting police numbers and you now have no local policemen stamping down on unsocial behaviour etc. Tbf to Boris he was prepared to spend money on these and raise taxes to pay for it.

Had I been a Brexiteer I would be wondering how exactly we has taken back control as Ray (I think) mused earlier. The country rids itself of the EU's suffocating tendrils only to find chancers in 'the market' had all the real influence after all.

From what I can see the NHS is largely dead as a principle.
Ageing population, growing population, and increasingly costly technology profile for modern treatments, combined with a lack of investment and on-going sale of components of supply that line corporate pockets with no focus on patient priority. How can it survive without either it's scope of service being fundamentally reduced.
Hunt is a long time exponent of the US model which has been proven to appalling for healthcare for those that actually need it, but fantastic for those looking to profit from it.
Democracy in this country and in the western world in general is dead...the fusion of global corporate interest along with mainstream media and social media collusion, and total corruption of elected public officialdom by the monied few means the false veneer of 'choice' and 'public determination' is completely gone.
Love my kids to bits, but worry that by having them have signed them up to a lifetime of on-going movement to a pure 1984-style dystopian society.

Nailed on that none (NONE) of the NHS "efficiencies" will impact it's management and administration staff - apart from them putting a few thousand vacancies lined up for mates on hold until the wind changes.
