I think the main question is not who the doctor is but why the BBC continue with this shit.
No matter what they say about tradition, the bottom line is that the show is utter fucking crap and its watched by about 1000 middle class 12 year olds who love in central London in their million pound homes. Who will very soon realise their cock gets hard when they play with it and so won't be watching Doctor Who much longer.
It was good in its day when their was 3 channels. It ran its course thirty years ago.

My parents had a gay male Yorkshire Terrier. He was a 'throwback' and much larger than usual Yorkies. He also had a much nicer personality than the average terrier.
Anyway, he was full-on gay. And randy. In the park he would only approach other male dogs to get romantic. He was also spectacularly inept, and mostly couldn't work out which end he was supposed to shag. Half the dogs in our neighbourhood were probably deaf in one ear.

Like most people, I can't stand 'blackwashing' in things like Bridgerton and other period pieces, but to get all morally outraged about the inauthenticity of a form shifting, regenerating, time travelling alien that travels through time and space in a glorified phone box being portrayed by a black, gay fella and a woman just showcases your petty prejudices in my opinion.

Couple schools of thought.
1) It is sci-fi and you can do anything as a long as the story is good. (For myself, the stories on Dr Who were not great before Whitaker and so I had stopped watching well before that change.)
2) In sci-fi or fantasy or the like because you can do anything, you need to set up some rules in your world. Our real world has laws of nature and so to make a story resonate, you need to follow your rules. If you break them too often, nothing seems important and you lose your audience.
Just two opinions.
