The Escape Artist - Radio 4
Radio 4's book of the week, really worth a listen.

It's about two Jews who escape from Auschwitz. They write the first major report of what was going on in there. Their report goes to Churchill, Roosevelt and others.

Five episodes, 15 minutes each.

You're right about Jonathan Freedland. He reads as well as he writes.

Re: The Escape Artist - Radio 4
Cheers for that. Will give it a listen .

They do out out some good stuff

Was listening to the show 'Rewinder' (old archive stuff from the beeb) and they covered a story about the Lochness Phenomena Investigation Bureau, a sweaty x files. Led by a an eccentric Scottish bloke calked David James (not our ex player)

He escaped twice from a Pow camp in Germany, using forged papers under the name of Aye Bugger Off.

Spot on Coffee - Rudolf Vrba & Alfred Wetzler were 19 and 25 respectively when they escaped from Auschwitz in April 1944. The story of their escape and their revelations as to "The Final Solution" is both inspiring and chilling.

Definitely worth a listen, notable for the reading by the author of their story, Jonathan Freedland.
