It's a bicycle like any other except that it has a motor which assists the rider. The maximum performance is similar to a fit rider on a normal bike, hence they are legally just bicycles.

Yeah whatever next… taking the dog out for a walk… just put him in a shopping trolley and roll him down a hill…. Society is getting exactly like that WALL-E film…

Re: Electric Bikes
What is the point of an electric bike? Don’t you just use them for exercise? Otherwise, just get a car, a motorcycle or moped.

What next? Gym weights that lift themselves?

Re: Electric Bikes
Nice one, Chim!

I had an Electric Bike about ten years back, as we'd moved all rural and I don't drive.

The nearest Pub was a mile and a half away, and being downhill all the way, I felt like Eddie Merckx.

Coming back though, fuck me! The Electric part hardly helped at all, particularly on the bastard hill of a sheer 30 meter climb

I like my routine of going for a couple of pints at around 10pm, so I stuck at it. Slowly the journey home got easier, and within 4 or 5 months I was shooting up that hill.

You do have to work them sometimes, meaning you do get fitter and stronger, despite some popular belief.

Re: Electric Bikes
A couple of Saturday nights ago two hood rat black kids identically dressed in black, black hoodies and even identical black electric bikes snatched an IPhone from a kid at a bus stop in Tottenham Court Rd and cycled away.

I was a bit in front so didn't see it properly but my brother started chasing them shouting in his best cockney 'FUCKING GET BACK HERE YOU COUPLE OF CUNTS'.

I can't run after my little coming together with a car last year that smashed me to fuck; He really, nearly caught them to the point where they lobbed the phone back at him.

Gave the phone back to the kid who got his blower back and he meekly said 'thank you'. I think he was a bit shaken up.

Don't tell him but I was a bit proud.

Re: Electric Bikes
Anywhere less than 3-4 miles I tend to use the ebike sometimes I don't use the car for days on end. No problems with parking either. I also fold the bike and shove it in the car when going to the football when I park 2 - 3 miles away and ride right up to the stadium. If I didn't have the bike I would probably have to use the raspberry bus, due to arthritis, and I don't think I would have renewed the season..
