Moyes Favouritism
Was there any point in the board giving him all that money when there's clearly certain individuals that he won't drop. How can a team spirit develop it the new lads are not getting a fair chance, especially the way we've started the season. Surely you have to decide team selection on merit and not favourites. It's clear Fabianski, Coufal, Cresswell, Soucek, Fornals, Bowen and Antonio will keep getting picked despite us being shit in almost every game, bar the spurs second half. If Haaland had signed for us, how many games would he had to have waited before getting a run in the team? Cornet's played a total of twenty five minutes in the to be premier league games he's been available and arguably did more in that Chelsea cameo, than Bowen's contributed all season

As we know the managerial money go round is a piece of piss because most chairman are quite clueless when it comes to understanding football.

Apart from BFS, Bruce, Moyes, Pullis and Warnock there are people who interview really well like McLaren and that Michael Appleton bloke who is supposed to be a tactical genius but everywhere he's been suggests he is a mediocre journeyman.

Plenty of foreign bosses are like that too - so you need to do your research properly to land a decent one there too.

I honestly think a lot of our players would step up with a better coach. They look bored, depressed and unmotivated. There is no response anymore.

Look at Newcastle. They have spent money but their best players have been Almiron and Joelinton who were nearly always played out of position by that other tactical genius Steve Bruce. He just left West Brom and the new guy takes over and wins 9 out of 10 matches with the SAME players - who were clueless and stinking the place out.

Calm down Michael!

On your recommendation I will look forward to watching Baptiste’s progress over the next couple of years.

You obviously rate him highly as a future premiership player for us or someone else.

Mikey boy,

I also want the team to do well which is why I want us to put out strong teams that can win games. That’s all that matters.

If the youngsters are good enough like Rice & Johnson then they will find a way to be involved and play regularly.

you were saying the youngsters should be on the bench rather than Dawson, Ogbonna & Cresswell.

So by saying that you obviously think Baptiste should be playing European games instead of Dawson when we rest Zouma and also Premiership games when Zouma is injured. Am I right in thinking that’s what you are saying?

"That must have hurt Mikey"

I love your feminine passive aggressive bollocks, Mikey šŸ˜‚. listen you silly cunt, all I want is the team doing well and just because we had a decent second half against the romanian team doesn't change the fact that bowen had been garbage in almost every other game this season. brilliant, he did his job for once this season. I'm not saying any of the youngsters I was talking about would play this year, NEXT FUCKiNG YEAR is what people are talking about when nine contracts are about to expire. I've already explained why I would give them a chance, it you don't like it ignore me or run along to one of the mods

Re: Moyes Favouritism
No Mikey, I’m talking like we are in Europe THIS SEASON and to go as far as we can we can’t afford to be playing the likes of Baptiste & Coventry in those games.

You keep waiting for Baptiste to be the next big thing Mikey because like Alese and Ngakia he will most likely be struggling to get a game in the championship/lower leagues next year playing for someone else.

Until one of these academy players we supposedly ā€œnever gave a fair chance toā€ comes back with an opposing team as a decent Premiership player then I don’t think there is much scope to complain. How many of those have proven the club wrong over the years?

Oh and by the way. Last Thursday he picked Scamacca & Benrahma from the start and they were fucking shit so he had to bring in his ā€œfavouritesā€ Antonio & Bowen to turn the game around. That must have hurt Mikey.

Re: Moyes Favouritism
not sure if you noticed, but dawson wants to go back up north & ogbonna looked fucked against the romanian team. I've seen plenty of baptiste for the u23s and at 18 he looks as good as the one we sold to fulham , if you can't be bothered to watch him that's your problem. the way you talk, you must think it's a guarantee that we're in europe again next year. at the moment lanzini isn't good enough to start, and when he does get a chance shits the bed like thursday. id bring kelly in to the squad as the sixth/seventh choice midfielder (if moyes continues with 4-3-3). the same with marshall who I hope is around the PL2 squad in the next few months and would be great as another option for our front three off the bench in the next year or so. I've seen his better judgement, picking favourites every league game and we're stuck in the bottom three. again, you continue wanting to see old cunts kept at the club indefinitely and I'll keep wanting the best talent from our younger teams given a chance

Re: Moyes Favouritism
Takashi Miike,

So are you implying that instead of having the likes of Cresswell, Ogbonna & Dawson on the bench we should replace them with all the kids instead?

So are you saying these kids should play the European games as well when we need to rest a few of the first choice younger players?

Not forgetting if someone like Zouma got injured you think we should play Baptiste in the Premiership as his replacement instead of Dawson?

Let’s be honest Mikey, you haven’t got a clue if these kids are any good or anywhere near ready for the first team squad. The lad Marshall from Northern Island sounds like a good prospect but he’s still a kid playing for the U18’s. He hasn’t even had a run of games in the U21s against grown ups yet.

As for Baptiste, he’s been talked about for a few years now much like Conor Coventry and Alese who recently departed to Sunderland and none of them look like they are good enough to be decent Premier league players.

Time will tell if Moyes is wrong but he watches them in training every day and can make a better judgement than us.

Re: Moyes Favouritism
Miike, I agree with your general point that Moyes should play the youngsters more, but of the 3 players you mentioned, two are 17 year old forwards who've never played above U-18 level and one's an 18 year old centre back. They should be out on loan getting regular football, not just snatching minutes here and there, and obviously it doesn't help with the full back and central midfield gaps in the squad in any case.

You seem to be making out that it's an either/or situation, as if it has to be the kids or the oldies. Instead of renewing the contracts of those who are past it we can still buy players who are younger and better, only they would need to qualify as home grown.

Takashi Miike 5:46 Sun Sep 11
Re: Moyes Favouritism
not sure I said anything about starting them. I said move three in to the squad. of course your way is better, cresswell contracted until 36 will be great, oggy & dawson can borrow your zimmerframe

Willtell 5:20 Sun Sep 11
Re: Moyes Favouritism
Hang on there! My post was in response to Takashi Mike’s comments about not starting our youngsters. I know home grown can be from other clubs.

It’s hard to tell about Ashby too. He’s looked useful against weak opponents but if I was in Moyes place, I’d pick Coufal rather than Ashby. Conditions have to be right to take a chance on Ashby imo. Coufal has played well the last two games btw.

And I was clearly not talking about retired players from years ago!

Re: Moyes Favouritism
Willtell-

While I see what you are getting at, I would imagine there are times when a younger player would fit in our first team.

Would Coventry be better than Rice for example? Patently no, of course he wouldn't. Would Ashby have been a better bet than Coufal? Well, with an injured Johnson I think he would be well worth a start. Let's face it, even if he couldn't hack it, he's not going to be worse than Ashby.

Is it any wonder that players like Ashby are wanting to move away, when they can't even replace a player like Coufal when he's not on it?

I'm not against Moyes; he's done a grand job for us and it's been a fucking pleasure to support our team again, especially in Europe 2 seasons on the go. But it grinds my passing gears that he won't even try our youngsters from time to time, especially when replacing players that ain't holding their own.

Re: Moyes Favouritism
However, I don’t think we have ever seen any of them leave and do well at PL level.

So Rio, Lampard Junior, Joe Cole, Carrick didn't win any Premier League winners medals then?

Lee Trundle 4:27 Sun Sep 11
Re: Moyes Favouritism
Home grown players doesn't mean players from our academy, Willtell.

We're only allowed a maximum of 17 non-"homegrown" players in our squad.

As it stands, if everyone's contact expires, and either Rice or Bowen leave, then we'd have a squad if 21 players and would be unable to buy any more non-homegrown players.

We need to buy more home grown players.

Willtell 3:49 Sun Sep 11
Re: Moyes Favouritism
I love seeing our home grown players making the first team. However, I don’t think we have ever seen any of them leave and do well at PL level.

If Moyes sees a decent youngster he will play them. The truth is that if they aren’t better than the 1st choices you only weaken the team by playing them.

scouse kid 3:20 Sun Sep 11
Re: Moyes Favouritism
This is what is so annoying about our window. The Homegrown quota is well known and so we should be planning ahead for next year as well

So signing people like Emerson is just a false economy
