The 6 month extension was offered to cover the Test tour to Pakistan and up to and including the t20 World Cup. But it was made clear there was no prospect of continuing beyond that. The CA chariman (egg headed ENGLISHMAN Nick Hockley) made it clear that this was to be followed by a 'period of transition'. Seemingly to a more touchy feely soft-cock style of coach who wont shout at the players.

Seems to be a bit odd, only offering him six months, presumably because they knew he would turn it down, particularly as Australia hammered us in the Ashes and won the previous 20/20 WC under him.

Langer reckons most of the players supported him BUT ....
In a lengthy podcast interview, Langer praised former captain Tim Paine's feedback while lamenting that he believed the likes of current leader Pat Cummins and white-ball skipper Aaron Finch took longer to be direct.
'I spoke to Pat Cummins. He said to me about five times, 'This might be brutally honest',' Langer recalled to Code Sports. 'I said, 'Pat, there is nothing brutal about your feedback. What is brutal is I'm hearing it behind my back through the media or through sources'.
'No one's telling me. Tell me.

Sven - Which players are the 'cowards' Langer is referring too in an interview which he feels led to him just being offered a 6 month contract? Surely not Warner and Smith!

so, what you're saying is, Sven son, that the LOLstralian public have used their 2 years cowering behind their sofas to finally come to the realization that the australian cricket team are a massive bunch of cunts?
nice of them to join the rest of the world, albeit a little late

The attendances WERE poor for Australia's games. No question But given they have 4 of the greatest stadiums in the world ... MCG, SCG, Optus & Adelaide and had a couple of 80,000 crowds plus 100,000 for India v Pakistan I dont think the ICC will be binning them for tournaments any time soon. That said not sure anyone wants another t20 WC. Hopefully international t20 will be killed ASAP and more respect given to ODI's .... except for these pointless 3 Aust v Eng games coming up.
As long as the Ashes are there every 4 years thats all that matters. I imagine next time England wont swerve Perth & wont be given the ridiculous advantage of a D/N in Tasmania

Just pointing out to stewie that there wasn't reluctance to attend sporting events.
Apart from the weather & the time of the year (Oct is too early, Feb/Mar is the time for ICC tournaments) I think there was definitely a turn off for Australian fans. For a team that was obviously the holders of this cup. From what I have seen on social media (self selecting obviously so hard to tell how widespread it is) there is a negative attitude to the team due to: The undermining of Justin Langer by the players to get him effectively sacked for a more pliant coach Cummins advising CA that the players werent happy to see a GAS company (Alinta) renewed as a sponsor ... sponsorship not renewed The ongoing belief from some that Warner and Smith shouldnt be playing And maybe some continuing disappointment that the Ashes were only won 4 (FOUR) - 0 (NIL)
NORTHERN, Commiserations to you and your husband for your RUGBY UNION DORIS's breaking a 30 match winning streak in the one game that matters. I know that hit you hard

Svender, you’ve just stated there that Australia is a bit inbreedy about it’s sport….hopefully this means the real Australians will get more respect from their European invading Fauxstralians…..

"Biggest disappointment: Poor crowds
The poor crowds did not paint Australian cricket in the best light. The weather, the time of year, the Aussies’ indifference to T20 and people still reluctant to go to big events after Covid have all been offered as excuses. But the fact that even Australia’s matches were nowhere near sell-outs wasn’t great. This should count against Australia when it comes to awarding them global cricket events again."
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
reluctant to go to big events after covid. How pathetic.

After watching England put in a truly dominant display popped into sainsburys to get some bits for Sunday dinner and bumped into Mike gatting. Was going to ask him exactly where the ball hit him but he looked like every other bloke in there and desperately wanted out
