I'm not saying that IS what's going to happen- just that it could do. Yes he runs the risk of injury in the meantime but the potential upside is huge.

Grealish is on 250k a week so you'd have to expect it to be at least comparable to that, if not more. Whereas the buying club will save over 100 million if not somewhat more in a transfer fee. They'd probably happily chuck him a huge signing on fee of 8 figures and still be laughing all the way to the bank. Add in that more clubs would be able to compete for his signature that way and he's in a great position.

Anyway- let's hope not. Best case is that the club takeover happens, and Kretinsky has serious plans for us. Otherwise one way or another and sooner or later, Rice is a gonner.

No way rice is going Arsenal

Looking very likely he’ll leave next summer. He’ll have 2 years left on his contract, likely he’d have a good World Cup behind him and likely we won’t have qualified for Europe. Hopefully there’s a bidding war and 3 or 4 of City, Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea want him.

For the fans, i think running out his contract is the best case scenario keeping until he is 26. I'm sure the owners won't let that happen, but let's be honest who are we replacing him with if he goes versus what he brings to the team if he stays?

I think he's nailed on to leave next summer though. That's certainly what the rumour mill was saying last summer. Just hope we don't get our pants pulled down like with Payet.

It'll be unreal to get £100m+ for a player that doesn't score or create. June is the last window to try and get a big fee. If he hasn't renewed by then, he has to be sold

Agreed. I do think Rice is a tad overrated and his good couple of years since Moyes returned has gone to his head a bit (natural, I suppose, for a young man earning millions and getting adulation from supporters, the press and his peers).

If a club offered £100,000,000+ for him, the West Ham owners would be foolish to turn it down for a player who seems to be running his contract down.

Re: Rice turns down £200,000 per week new contract
El I think you are wrong

If he signs on a free or for a fee he will be on £200k plus per week

The only difference will be the singing on fee, which to make it worth his while has to be more that £18m

And all that with a 2 yr risk that his form doesn’t plummet / he doesn’t get a massive injury / the team that wants him doesn’t identify a better value option or discover it in their youth set up

I’m calling bollocks on the story - it didn’t happen

Re: Rice turns down £200,000 per week new contract
The only risk his end is getting a serious injury while he might be winding a contract down. The upsides for him are enormous though. He'll make far far more money from signing as a free agent with someone than being transferred. I really hope that's not what he's doing. It would be heartbreaking to have a world class player walk away without us recouping anything by means of a transfer fee. That could be what's happening though, seen as he's likely too expensive for almost anyone to buy at this point in time. Maybe only 5-6 clubs maximum can afford him? Man City, man U, PSG, Real, Chelsea. Anyone else?

If he leaves for free, he basically has his pick of any club in the world he wants to go to.

Re: Rice turns down £200,000 per week new contract
We didn’t offer him an 8yr £200k a week deal. If we did why didn’t he sign it? Only reason would be if he has been tapped up and is running his contract down. However that is a huge risk from him, turning down £18m extra on the basis he moves on 2 yrs to the tapping up club.

A lot happens in 2 yrs, big risk on a secret, non documented, not legally binding, gentleman’s agreement.

Re: Rice turns down £200,000 per week new contract
I think the value in Rice is that he's likely to be one of the best players in the world in his position, and he's the ultimate professional to go with it.

I actually think he's less of a risk purchase, than say Grealish, who cost that amount and has done pretty much fuck all.

I think they'll be enough teams desperate for a player in his position, which should hopefully means he doesn't leave on the cheap.

Re: Rice turns down £200,000 per week new contract
I think Rice loves playing here but obviously he wants to join a top club that will win things. That won’t happen at West Ham under Moyes and I think he’s realised that.

Next year he will be 24 having learned to be a good captain, been through a World Cup and a top team will pay £100+m for him. He will be a big loss if he goes.

I’m disappointed that our board are making feeble attempts to keep him. £200k pw for 8 years sounds a lot but isn’t. Man City or Chelsea would pay more when we regularly read how much their top players get paid it’s more.

He may be tempted to stay for a 3 year £250k pw. That still allows him time for a move before he reaches his peak…

Re: Rice turns down £200,000 per week new contract
Unless he has changed his mind since the few interviews he did where he stated that his family are all local, so he wanted to stay in the area, that says to me Chelsea is the most likely venue, although if he does go, I would prefer it if he went to a City or abroad.

Can understand him wanting to go, West Ham are never going to win the title unless we did a Leicester, and even when they won the League half of them wanted out afterwards and moved to what they thought were greener pastures elsewhere. Worked out for one or two of them, but not others.

At least he hasn't taken the £200,000 a week then demanded a transfer 6 months, a year down the line. I just hope we don't end up getting nothing for him. If he is going at some point just let him go and bring in some funds.

We missed our chance to keep Rice when we did not win Europa.

That trophy and champions league football probably would have got him to sign something long term.

Rice will be off unless we become of the better teams from this point on, for the rest of the season.
That is obviously highly unlikely. Just hope when he does go, he goes big. Madrid, Barca, Man City rather than West London.

Re: Rice turns down £200,000 per week new contract
He's already shown his ambition by fucking off the irish for ENGLAND. And who could blame him?

The same will likely happen in his club career. Appreciate the little time we've got left with him, and for those who think he isn't moving, prepare yourself.

Re: Rice turns down £200,000 per week new contract
Not every single person is overly obsessed with money. Everyone wants a bit more, but he's a millionaire already, and maybe his football career is more important to him than an extra £18mil. He's a sensible lad, you can't see him going off the rails and he's represented by his family, so he'll end up warning something like north of £50mil through his career either way.
