Underrated players at other clubs
(as a companion to the other thread)
Mark Chamberlain - Port Vale and Stoke
Beat John Barnes to the England team and was the better player for at least two years
only eight caps though

Scored a blinder away at Everton, but that was the only highest of his West Ham career.

Re: Underrated players at other clubs
Alan Shearer is criminally underrated despite the record for PL goals. Unrreal feat that nobody has touched, and therefore in my opinion is the PL's greatest ever striker.
Robert Huth and Wes Morgan from the Leicester City title winning team - Their partnership is never mentioned despite what they achieved.
I'll always like Huth retrospectively for doing Upson away at Stoke.
*if this is a repost, it's re-written because I'm writing on a train and I got disconnected.*

GK Paul COOPER
RB Paul REANEY
LB Derek PARKIN
CH Paul JONES (Bolton)
CB Alan HANSEN
DM Alan OAKES
AM Tony CURRIE
AM Vince HILAIRE
LW Steve HEIGHWAY
CF Cyrille REGIS
RW Dave THOMAS
My team's based a bit about how many caps they got versus their talent. I'm sure they were all appreciated by their own fans.

Just a few names have seen on here where people turned their nose up at the thought of them playing for us.
Bonkers!
I was also going to pick McGuin and McTomminay

Conversely players who starred for Clough like Webb and Davenport’ never hit the regular heights of their Forest days when sold on.
Clough was a master at getting a team to play at a level above the sum of its constituent parts, the opposite of the likes of Ruben Amorim for example.
John McGovern is another good example, Cloughie took him everywhere it seems

I must have watched a different player, Vinnie Jones is one of the worst footballers I've ever seen live.
And I've watched a season of Radoslav Kovac.

I didn't like those wimbledon teams but you couldn't help notice how fit they were. I watched an interview with bassett a year or so ago, and he brought up how their superior fitness and attitude compensated for technical deficiencies. that was a decent leeds team vinnie was in

Neil Shipperley was later charged with wanking in a vehicle while watching a young girl wasn’t he?

A player I always admired was Willie Carr. Always full of running off the ball.
Re: Underrated players at other clubs
Great shouts on Irwin and Cahill. Carrick and Solskjaer were in that mould. Solskjaer would have been a regular started for most other clubs, a cracking finisher and Carrick was never in the England question as they always just tried to shoehorn in Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard and Beckham.

Tim Cahill - He would've been perfect for us. I always wished we had made Millwall an offer they couldn't refuse. He was quality. A bit spiky but great if he's on your side.
