Pablo- is he absolute gash?
He’s got me stumped. He puts in so much effort and runs all day and makes us a lot better off the ball as well as trying hard when we have it, harasses defenders and tires the opposition out to give a good opportunity for Wilson to come on. I like him. We are better when he’s playing…
BUT he seems like an utter donkey. Giraffe on roller skates. Woeful touch under any sort of pressure and off the speed of the game in any sort of tight situation and looks less likely to score than Areola. Like the absolute opposite of Wilson who has none of th physical tools but all the brain and composure.
So what do we make of him?

Interesting because the Wilson I saw did very little, as fucking usual. Without a goal his performances look somewhat different to the superhero the idiot majority seem to have decided he is.
Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
I like him, he's been thrown in at a much higher level of football than he's ever played, works his absolute nuts off, can hold it up, is physical and brings a strange level of chaos that I'm fucking enjoying. So we probably paid too much but it's early doors. Summerville got away with being shit for ages and had now come good, this lad has made a difference in his two starts and is getting slated. You're a bunch of weird cunts.

I was not impressed by kilman being boed when he came on. Or was that just the idiots sitting behind me ?
Well someone has started a thread 'pablo is he absolute gash' when we've just had a good win, are giving it a go at staying up, and the lads played his heart out. So yes not surprising some of our fans boo our players. I might not be a kilman fan, but that's a disgrace.
Yes. It’s a question, not a statement, because he really puzzles me in term of how much value his presence absolutely genuinely brings to the team compared to how raw he is in possession and I am struggling to assess him. There are players who you know are shit and just offer nothing. Feghouli, Gokhan Tore, Vlasic.
Pablo brings loads but but it’s really difficult to pinpoint how good an actual footballer he is from what we have seen so far.

Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
The one thing I always look at in any player is effort and work rate. He puts in a shift which is all I expect right now. We’ll know more once he settles in.
He may not have scored yet but he influences the game.

Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
With Pablo and Taty up there it seemed to stop the constant turnover of the ball by a very robust opposition. They both got stuck in and harried their back line. We had much more possession when they were on the pitch and made more space for Bowen and Summerville to attack. I don't think Pablo is up to speed yet but I can see him improving as the season goes on. He must be nurtured through his first few games.

I like him and his work ethic. Yes give him time. I think he'll come good like Summerville has.

Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
He probably wouldn't be playing, but our other striker is an oap. Needs a preseason, run out with the youth team.
He's shown more effort than that dollop Ferguson or the raspberry watch collector, Fullkrug. So it's a yes from me.

Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
At a properly run football club he would have been eased in and coached and prepared over a season but instead he has been thrown into a relegation battle.
under the circumstances I think he has done alright.

Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
Give the lad time.
He's young, come from playing against the equivalent of a Div 1 side most weeks where he was smashing goals in, and we paid about 8m over the odds because we wanted to pay installments instead of just paying his release clause.
What he isn't is the next Zlatan. But he's contributing to the team playing better....winning the ball, holding it up, keeping us up the pitch and linking play.
For a kid from one of Portugal's lesser lights dropped into a Premier League relegation scrap, I'd say he's doing pretty fucking well right now, and we're a better team with him in it.

Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
too soon to say he's crap of course it is. There will of however be some expectation given his high fee, and questions asked if in fact it looks like we just flushed 20M down the toilet.

Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
New player comes in. Starts two games. We win two games. Conclude he is absolute gash. What was another thread saying about modern football fans?
Re: Pablo- is he absolute gash?
In no world is he worth what we paid. We've had our pants pulled down by Nuno's agent. For someone who claims to be 'canny' Sullivan has sanctioned many millions on subpar crap.
Thing is he's starting every game now regardless, because Nuno claimed he is a 'must have'. Need to hope there's a player in there.

His work and effort fighting for the ball & closing down defenders is excellent…. but can’t imagine him scoring or creating a goal

So what do we make of him?I suppose you’ve answered your own question in a way. Different horses for different courses. Plenty of heart, occupies defenders and gives them something to think about all game, reasonable hold up play, brings others into play.
World beater, no, gash, absolutely not.
Probably what we need right now and we should remember we’ve been relegation fodder all season.
Should not be overlooked as coincidental that Summerville’s form has upticked since the arrival of Pablo and Taty.
Completely agree about Summerville. I was saying the same to the bloke who sits behind me. Taty and Pablo offer us so much energy and they create for th rest of the team simply by being a nuisance.
We are unquestionably better as a team with them but I really don’t know if Pablo is anything like a PL quality striker. He’s got a lot of room to grow and adapt though. A goal could do a lot for him.
