It was naive as fuck to pick this game at Anfield to go balls out to try and think we could outscore them. Defend for our lives should have been the call. Rare breakaway goal if opportunity arises all well and good but taking it to them was never going to yield a result. Others games we berked up not being as positive in the past were the times to play like that. Have a fucking word, Paco old son!

At least we had a go. We have always complained when Moyes, Loppy and Potter parked the bus and still lost.
But for some dodgy defending and lucky deflections we could have justifiably come away with something today.

Our only win there since 1963 was the 0-3 victory under Bilic in August 2015 in that wonderful 2015-2016 season (our last before the move from our home to the rented bowl).
I still think Nuno should have been ditched for Bilic in January. At least we would have gone down fighting.
We are going down fighting.

It's bad enough having a bogey team but when that team is as revolting as Liverpool it is very hard to bear. I've just had a WOMAN who lives in Tottenham and claiming to be a Liverpool fan sending me pisstake texts I just told her that unless she pronounces it Liverpyule, she has no opinion.

I have seen us 5 times at Anfield and we have scored TWICE in those 5 games. One of the games we should have won was when GAVIN HOLLIGAN was one on one with their keeper and he fucked it up

Our record at Anfield in my lifetime is fucking shameful and easily worse than any other club. It doesn’t matter who’s the manager or the players. And as often as not we don’t just lose, we get fucking battered. I was lucky enough to go up there in the 70’s to see us draw 1-1 but that’s the best I’ve witnessed.

Wan Bissaka is so overrated IMO. Defending them was miserable. Horrible body shape, backed off to the 6 yard box. Crap defender IMO.
At last, someone else has noticed. I gave up saying it, but imo, so many goals are down to him, a lot of the time not obviously, but he is an appalling defender. He has natural physical attributes, but in terms of defensive intelligence, he was at the back of the queue.
He also is clearly one of those players who doesn't give a real fuck. It is purely a job to him, his face doesn't change when we concede, just strolls off with zero emotion.
The curse of hammer of the year. He was dropped first few games of the season, wasnt he? Seems to have got into a sulk and cant be arsed. Will be first gone out the door if we go down.
I think sadly he's just a bit away with the fairies. Terrible back post defender. Terrible awareness. Good carrier. But that's he's known for going to ground slide tackling is because he's a last ditch desperado. Backs off and back off....KWP a superior football in all ways IMO except for ball carrying.
Plus, AWB is in my opinion lazy or just so lacking in awareness. Was the same under Lopetegui at the start too. How many goals this year have come from crosses from our left (which Diouf NEVER cuts out to the back post where AWB hasn't bothered to track his man or has lost his man.
Wouldn't get in my side.

Football success nowadays is totally about who has the most money and more importantly who is the best at investing it via recruitment. I keep seeing West Ham one of those failed companies you read about in business books. Root cause being lack of leadership and no medium or long term plan, inability to execute etc. And like failing or failed companies it results in loss of market share and ultimately bankruptcy. Sullivan is the root of all the problems but sadly even relegation will be blamed on others ( Potter etc ) as his narcissism tells him he is the victim not the perpetrator. And worse still, he will “burn the furniture” by selling all the decent players to cover the huge debt he has recreated.
He has been a spectacular failure as owner and chairman but aided and abetted by a spineless board and an incompetent CEO in Brady, a lady who has only worked at one organisation and who got promoted at least 4 levels beyond her capabilities. Sullivan will also cling onto the club with a “dead man’s grip” as he refuses to sell at a realistic price.
Middle eastern ownership is sadly our best option now. They might be able to overpay just to get a London based club. They hopefully can pay off the debt and modernise the club, invest in a proper stadium, training facilities and emply people who know how to properly run it. Ww might have to ignore the human rights records of their country though. A pact with a devil? Maybe, but shows how awful Sullivan is because despite their dubious human rights issues, they are preferable to the little narcissist that has been running the club these last 15 years.
You wasted your time posting three paragraphs of drivel to effectively state Sullivan is a clueless cսnt. We know and you could have stated that in five words.

We got worse with the sub of Magassa. Soucek should have made way imo not yhat it would have affefted the result but then we have no attacking midfielders on the bench and Soucek gets a goal now and then.
Feels like we have been in a slow death spiral all season and our mini revival post mid Jan slowed once Pablo got injured and has now come to a shuddering halt.
Bowen was awful and has been for a few games now. Effort and commitment was there but inability to derend set pieces and crosses ultimately lost us the game. AWB didnt throw himself to block the 4th and Disasi was unluck for the 5th. The first got a deflection too. Was that also AWB? Strangely though, despite the scoreline, better finishing and we could have got another 2 or 3. Summerville 2 great chances, Bowen 2 chances come to mind but thats why you get relegated when you let too many in and cannot take enough chances.
Even the most optimistic must be thinking we are the most kikely to go down without exceptional help from other teams which is a long shot. Summerville, Taty, Bowen, Fernandes, Disasi, Diouf, Todibo and maybe Pablo too ( relegation clause ) will all be gone as Sullivan panics. Long stint in Championship a real possibility now. Lack of a long term plan or leadership and anything by way of competent management have led us here and Sullivan has failed totallly. A disasterous 15 years
I'm finally enjoying watching us trying to play football. It's been terrible style for years and even under Nuno with his weird choices.
I dont like thinking about relegation but it's very likely. I think it will be a fire sale if we go down. Pretty much anyone with any value will be sold for peanuts. We dont have enough youngsters to cover and in fact they might well be subject to bids and sold. I think financially we have been ruined. Could be a miserable few years but I think we will come back.

Sums up the modern game. Most players are overpaid employees. Their reaction to a defeat is not disimilar to the majority of people's reaction if the company they work for records a financial loss. They don't care as long as they still get paid.

Usual Anfield fayre. Honestly we were at least their equal in the first half and desperately unlucky to be even 1 down let alone 3.
it’s just the way it goes for us there. Never ever had the rub of the green against them.

His use of Subs is fucking horrendous. Paco needs to batter him at Rush Green in the next Team meeting before it's too late before the season ends.

Thought we played well, some nice link up and never gave up. They scored a lot of deflected goals and the setup for set plays was wrong. Kind of a problem most the season. They blocked Hermanson off as he is soft and this is how we were bleeding goals early in the season.
At the end of the day the quality of finishing was the difference. They never deserved 5 goals but were more clinical with chances. The 3rd before half time in particular. We need to carry on with this type of energy. We need to be ruthless on chances. The one complaint I have is bringing on Traore who is a useless lump and offers nothing. I'd rather Wilson or a youngster over him. I cant understand that sub at all.

1-0 or 5-2 who gives a fuck. Today was inevitable given our form at anfield. It’s all about what happens tomorrow and next week at Forest that will define our season.
Goal difference matters mate.

Jarrod...
I reckon all the fan talk about his abilities as a Captain will have stung him.
Having said that, he was not at the races today - he'd be horribly naive if he wasn't sounding out potential destinations for next season by now... has to impact on a player's performance, you'd think.
We need him to shine for another three months, then (if he has any sense) he'll bow out and move on elsewhere in the Capital... as long as it's not the Spuds I can live with that...

Christ! Another reffing fiasco at Burnley... VAR just blew out Burnley's 4th for 'handball'...
TBF, it looked like handball at full speed, but you could see him chest it down in slo-mo...
So glad I'm not ST these days, all these ridiculously biased injustices make me fkg mad.

Losing to Liverpool at Anfield is not season ending. It was always a game we'd expect to lose.
The bookies knew it too....4/1 the draw, 6/1 and away win..
This was normal. Fulham on Wednesday is it much greater significance and one we have to target victory in.
Hold the line.

We played some really good stuff and could easily have come out of it with a draw. Three things counted against us :
1 - inability to defend corners
2 - poor finishing
3 - bad luck
A couple of other points - Bowen once again looking neither like a captain nor an England player. Traore a waste of space. Diouff a bit scratchy apart from his assist. Summerville superb apart from that miss.
We're not dead yet but it'll be a nervous wait for the Forest and Spurs results and Fulham is a total must-win.
